TROUBLESHOOTING
VS SENSOR/COMBINATION METER
The speedometer operate normally, but the odometer/trip meter does not operate normally
1. Fuse Inspection
Check for blown HORN, WINKER METER (ILLMI) fuse (15 A).
Is the fuse blown?
YES – Replace the fuse.
NO – GO TO STEP 2.
2. Combination Meter Buck-up Voltage Line Inspection
Disconnect the combination meter 28P (Gray) connector.
Turn the ignition switch ON and measure the battery voltage between the combination meter 28P
connector of the wire side and ground.
Is there battery voltage?
YES – Faulty combination meter printed circuit board
NO – Open or short circuit in Light green/yellow wire
The odometer/trip meter operate normally, but the speedometer does not operate
1. VS Sensor Signal Line Inspection
Turn the ignition switch ON and measure the output voltage (sensor signal) between the combina-
tion meter connector terminal and ground with the connector connected then while slowly turning
the rear wheel by your hand.
Is the voltage within standard value?
YES – Faulty combination meter printed circuit board
NO – GO TO STEP 2.
2. VS Sensor Power Input Voltage Inspection
Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect the VS sensor 3P (Black) connector.
Turn the ignition switch ON then measure the voltage at the VS sensor 3P connector of the wire side.
Is the voltage within standard value?
YES – GO TO STEP 3.
NO – • Loose or poor contact of related terminals.
• Open or short circuit in Yellow/red wire between the combination meter and VS sensor.
• Open circuit in Green/black wire between the VS sensor and ground.
3. VS Sensor Signal Line Open Circuit Inspection
Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect the combination meter 28P (Gray) connector.
Check for continuity between the VS sensor 3P and combination meter 28P connectors of the wire
side.
Is there continuity?
YES – GO TO STEP 4.
NO – Open circuit in Pink/green wire
CONNECTION: Light green/yellow (+) – Ground (–)
CONNECTION: Pink/green (+) – Ground (–)
STANDARD: Repeat 0 to 5 V
CONNECTION: Yellow/red (+) – Green/black (–)
STANDARD: 4.75 – 5.25 V
CONNECTION: Pink/green – Pink/green
