GENERAL INFORMATION
1.1 INTRODUCTION
This manual contains information relative to the physical, mechanical, and electrical
characteristics of the Bendix/ King KRA 405. Installation and operating procedures
are also included. Information relative to the maintenance and procurement of re-
placement parts may be found in Section IV, V, and VI of the KRA 405 Maintenance/
Overhaul Manual.
1.2 DESCRIPTION OF EQUIPMENT
The KRA 405 Radar Altimeter System provides the pilot with dependable, accurate
AGL altitude information during the critical approach phase of a flight. The system has
the capability of alerting the pilot when a predetermined altitude (decision height) is
reached. The system also provides altitude information to the flight control system
during the approach.
