Overview

The Honeywell LTE-L57V / LTE-L57A / LTE-L57C Cellular Communication Modules are designed to enable LYNX Touch L5210 and L7000 controls to communicate with a Central Station via the LTE cellular network. These modules facilitate alarm reporting and module supervision, enhancing the security system's connectivity.

Function Description:

The primary function of these modules is to provide cellular communication capabilities for the LYNX Touch series controls. This allows the security system to transmit alarm signals and other critical information to a Central Station over the LTE network. The installation process involves physically integrating the module into the LYNX Touch control's front case and then configuring it through the control's software interface.

Installation Steps:

  1. FCC Label Installation: Attach the provided FCC label (LTE-L57V: 800-23737 or LTE-L57A/LTE-L57C: 800-23737-1V1) to the control's case back.
  2. Case Release: Release the LYNX Touch front case from the back case by depressing the two locking tabs at the top of the unit using a medium-sized screwdriver.
  3. Module Installation: Install the communication module into the LYNX Touch control front case, ensuring the connector board is properly seated into the receptacle on the control.
  4. Module Securement: Secure the module using the three provided screws.
  5. Configuration: Enable the communication module, configure alarm reporting and module supervision, and register the device. This is done through the "Program the Radio" and "Diagnostics" sections in the LYNX Touch Series Installation & Setup Guide.

Initial Power Up Note (LTE-L57V):

Upon initial power up, a network initialization sequence begins, and the LYNX control will display "SIM not yet provisioned. Please wait. WARNING Do not reset the panel!!!" This sequence can take up to 15 minutes. It is crucial not to reset power during this initialization time. Once network initialization is complete, subsequent resets or power ups will typically take up to 90 seconds.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Voltage Input: 5V (provided by the control panel)
  • Current:
    • Idle: 30mA, standby
    • Transmit: 490mA, max transmit
  • Environmental Operating Temperature: -20°C to +55°C (for compliance agency: 0°C to +49°C)
  • Storage Temperature: -40°C to +70°C
  • Humidity: 0 to 95% relative humidity, non-condensing (for compliance agency 0% to 85%)
  • Antenna:
    • Penta-Band diversity antennas for LTE.
    • LTE-L57V: Supports LTE Bands 13, 4 and 2.

Usage Features:

  • Central Station Communication: Enables reliable communication with the Central Station via the LTE cellular network for alarm reporting.
  • Module Supervision: Supports supervision of the communication module to ensure its operational status.
  • Signal Strength Monitoring: Users can check the communicator's signal strength through the "Cell Information" screen on the LYNX Touch control. This screen displays signal strength in dBm and a star rating (1 to 5 stars, or "Not Present"). A consistent reading of at least 2 stars is recommended for reliable operation.
  • External Antenna Support: If internal antenna signal strength is insufficient, an external cellular radio antenna can be installed by a professional installer. Specific gain limits apply to external antennas to comply with FCC regulations (e.g., for LTE-L57V, external antenna gain shall not exceed 6.94 dBi for 700MHz, 6 dBi for 1700MHz, and 9.01 dBi for 1900MHz).

Maintenance Features:

  • Signal Strength Optimization: If signal strength is low, users can relocate the control or install an external antenna to improve reception. The "Cell Information" screen can be refreshed to check for improvements.
  • Documentation and Online Support: Honeywell provides comprehensive support resources, including the latest documentation and online support via mywebtech.honeywell.com, and warranty information at www.honeywell.com/security/hsc/resources/wa. Patent information is available at www.honeywell.com/patents.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • FCC Class B Statement: The equipment complies with FCC requirements for Class B computing devices, designed to provide reasonable protection against interference in a residential installation. Users are advised on measures to correct radio or television interference if it occurs.
  • ISED Class B Statement: The device complies with Canadian ICES-003.
  • FCC / ISED Statement: The device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules and ISED's license-exempt RSSs. Operation is subject to two conditions: (1) The device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) The device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.
  • RF Exposure Warning: The antenna(s) used for this transmitter must be installed to provide a separation distance of at least 7.8 inches (20 cm) from all persons and must not be co-located or operated in conjunction with any other transmitter except in accordance with FCC and ISED multi-transmitter product procedures.
