In addition to the continuous monitoring system, a self-test can be called in the menu mode
on the HF Tester display. This self-test embraces the results of continuous monitoring as well
as additional information that permits more detailed localization down to functional assembly
level. The fault messages of the self-test procedure are summarized in the table of test re-
sults, Fig. 114).
This test is automatically triggered with each power up start (power interrupt greater than 5
seconds, provided that ground phase is present). Furthermore, this test can be initiated by
pressing the button mounted on the Transceiver front panel. The results of this test can be
read on the Tester display (TEST submenu). In addition, the corresponding LEDs on the front
panel of the Transceiver respond:
– LRU FAIL
– COUPLER FAIL
– EXTERNAL INPUT FAIL (for ARINC 429 control port)
The test results are shown in Figs. 115 and 116. The result obtained in this case is the defec-
tive LRU. More detailed information on the fault can now be acquired by means of the ground
report or troubleshooting data.
