Each
group
of
X's
represents
an
individual
data
item.
Each
column
represents
the
same
kind
of
data.
Each
column
begins
at
the
same
place
and,
although
item
lengths
can
vary
within
a
column,
no
column
interferes
with
its
neighbor.
Carriage
Returns
and
Tabs
You
either
delimit
or
columnize
a
text
file—not
both—but
in
either
case,
before
you
import
from
a
text
file,
be
sure
to:
*
Replace
all
tabs
with
an
appropriate
number
of
spaces.
This
is
usually
only
a
concern
in
columnized
files.
Tabs
can
result
in
unpredictable
spacing
during
an
import,
messing
up
an
otherwise
well-planned
effort.
¢
Eliminate
all
carriage
returns
(represented
in
Memo
Editor
by
the
character
+)
except
those
at
the
end
of
each
record.

Data

the
Phone

how
you
might
transfer
data
from
the
Phone
Book

kind
of
database,
after
all)
into
a
