Observe local occupational health and safety requirements and guidelines for manual material handling.
Get help to lift and stabilize the product during installation or removal, especially when the product is not fastened to
the rails. Hewlett Packard Enterprise recommends that a minimum of two people are required for all rack storage
server installations. A third person may be required to help align the storage server if the storage server is installed
higher than chest level.
Use caution when installing the storage server in or removing the storage server from the rack; it is unstable when not
fastened to the rails.
CAUTION:CAUTION:
Always plan the rack installation so that the heaviest item is on the bottom of the rack. Install the heaviest item first, and
continue to populate the rack from the bottom to the top.
NOTE:NOTE:
Steps 1 - 3 in this section only apply to the first-time installation of the storage server into the rack.
ProcedureProcedure
1. Install drives in drive cage 1 and drive cage 2.
2. Optional: Install the security bezel.
3. Optional: Install drives in the rear drive cages.
4. Connect peripheral devices to the storage server.
5. Install the power supply.
6. To prevent accidental power cord disconnection when sliding the storage server in and out of the rack, secure the power cord in the
strain relief strap attached to the power supply handle.
