1 RJ-45 (network) jack Connects an optional network cable.
2 External monitor port Connects an optional VGA external monitor
or projector.
3 Exhaust vent Provides airflow to cool internal
components.

To prevent overheating, do not
obstruct vents. Use the computer
only on a hard, flat surface. Do not
allow another hard surface, such as
an adjoining optional printer, or a soft
surface, such as pillows or thick rugs
or clothing, to block airflow.
4 USB ports (2) Connect USB 1.1- and 2.0-compliant
devices to the computer using a standard
USB cable, or connect an optional External
MultiBay II to the computer. The MultiBay II
must also be connected to an external
power source.
5Audio-out
(headphone) jack
Connect optional headphones or powered
stereo speakers. Also connects the audio
function of an audio/video device such as
a television or VCR.
6Audio-in
(microphone) jack
Connects an optional monaural
microphone.
7 PC Card slot Supports optional Type I, Type II, or
Type III 32-bit (CardBus) or 16-bit PC
Cards. Some computer models may be
shipped with a smart card reader instead.
8 ExpressCard slot
(select computer
models only)
Supports optional ExpressCard/54 or
ExpressCard/34 cards.
