Do you have a question about the HP D6000 and is the answer not in the manual?
The HP D6000 Disk Enclosure is a high-density, low-cost external storage solution designed for HP BladeSystem and selected ProLiant Gen8 servers. It addresses the challenge of growing unstructured data by offering a scalable and cost-effective direct-attached storage option without compromising flexibility or performance.
The D6000 functions as a direct-attached storage enclosure, providing high-capacity storage for servers. It supports up to seventy (70) 3.5" Large Form Factor (LFF) Universal hot-pluggable SAS or SAS (Midline) MDL drives within a 5U rackmount form factor. This allows for significant storage density, with two pull-out drive drawers each accommodating 35 hot-pluggable drives.
For BladeSystem servers, the D6000 connects via 6 Gb/s SAS front-end connectivity using 6 Gb/s SAS BL switches in the interconnect bays and HP Smart Array P721m or P731m controllers in each BladeSystem server. It's crucial that the Blade switch firmware is 3.0.8.0 or higher for D6000 support.
For ProLiant Gen8 servers, the D6000 can be directly connected using Smart Array P421 and P822 Controllers with a standard 2M SAS cable. The P822 controller supports Dual Domain environments, while both P421 and P822 support Single Domain. The D6000 also supports HP H221 and H222 Host Bus Adapters (HBAs).
A key feature is its ability to support up to six D6000 storage devices off a single BladeSystem enclosure, providing up to 1260 TB of capacity. The 6 Gb/s host connectivity ensures higher performance, simplifies configuration and deployment, and broadens supported features when used with HP Smart Array P721m or P731m controllers and 6 Gb/s SAS BL switches.
