ENWW Using the Embedded Web Server 113
Open System (No authentication) Select this authentication method if your
wireless network does not require device authentication or
security to access the network. However, your network may still
use WEP encryption keys for data privacy.
Shared Key (Requires a WEP key) Select this authentication method if each
device on your wireless network uses a shared encryption key
(that is, a shared "password" value) for network access and
communications. Each device on the network must use the same
key. The HP Jetdirect print server supports IEEE 802.11 Wired
Equivalent Privacy (WEP) keys for encrypted network
communications. If you select Shared Key authentication, you
must configure one or more WEP keys.
WPA-PSK Select Wi-Fi Protected Access Pre-Shared Key (WPA-PSK) for
advanced authentication. WPA-PSK is typically for small networks
where authentication servers are not used. If WPA-PSK
authentication is selected, you will need to enter a network
pass-phrase that is used to generate the pre-shared key for your
network. In addition, you will need to select dynamic encryption.
Pass-phrase Enter a network pass-phrase that will be used to generate the
pre-shared key for WPA-PSK authentication on your network.
A pass-phrase must be from 8 to 63 ASCII characters in the
hexadecimal range 21 through 7E (characters 0-9, a-z, A-Z and
numerous special characters including !, @, #, $, %, ^, &, (, ), _,
+, =, -, {, }, [, ], \, /, “, <, >, ?, “, ‘, ~).
Disabled (No
encryption)
Select Disabled if your wireless network does not use encryption
keys for network access or communications.
Dynamic (WPA-PSK authentication only) When configured for WPA-PSK
authentication, the print server must use dynamic WPA encryption
protocols.
