Remove tape and cardboard from the printer before proceeding with setup.
Connect the power cable to the printer, but do not connect the USB cable yet.
Turn on the printer and select the display language and region.
Ensure the access door is closed and the paper tray is open.
Raise the input tray, extend the tray, slide guides, and load white paper.
Open the cartridge access door to prepare for installation.
Remove tape from cartridges and push them into the carriage until they snap.
Close the cartridge access door after installing the cartridges.
Wait for the alignment page to print and then open the lid.
Place the alignment page face down and close the lid to scan.
Insert the software CD and follow onscreen instructions for installation.
Choose between Network or USB connection during software setup.
Connect USB, insert CD, and run the Mac installer for setup.
Download printer software from hp.com/support if your computer lacks a CD/DVD drive.
