Phone-to-Zone
TM
Using Phone-to-Zone
1. Launch the Phone-to-Zone app on your iOS or Android smart device.
2. Press “CONNECT”. This will connect your smart phone with the centrally located Android phone. Note
that the button will change to “CONNECTING” during this process and will change to
“DISCONNECT” once the connection has been made.
3. Once connected, select TALK or RING for a particular zone, or RING ALL to ring into all of the zones
you’ve congured in the HTD Lync app, under System Settings > Doorbell Settings.
TALK – Wait a couple seconds for Phone-to-Zone to connect to that zone and then begin talking.
Anyone within that zone will hear your voice and can respond by pressing the TALK button on
their LyncTouch. If no LyncTouch is connected to that zone, you will simply be making an an-
nouncement into the zone.
RING – After a couple seconds, the BACKDOOR.mp3 le stored on the DI-21’s SD card will play
in both the zone and phone; the volume for both can be adjusted on the back of the DI-21. You
can replace this sound le with any other .mp3 le as long as you name the le BACKDOOR.mp3.
The call is answered when someone in the zone presses the TALK button on the LyncTouch.
4. Enjoy your conversation! Talk into the phone as you normally would and your voice is heard through
the speakers in the zone. The person within the zone must press the TALK button in order to talk
back during which time they will not hear you (similar to intercom).
5. You can end the conversation with one zone and start a new connection with another zone by select-
ing TALK or RING for the new zone. The rst zone will hear a short tone indicating the call has been
disconnected.
6. Press DISCONNECT when you are nished using Phone-to-Zone.
Notes
It is not possible to TALK into more than one zone at a time using Phone-to-Zone as you can when initi-
ating intercom from a LyncTouch. However, you can select RING ALL and the rst zone to “answer” the
call will then be placed into a one-to-one conversation.
If a zone you are calling is currently powered off, it will be automatically powered on and set to “Inter-
com”.
When using the Phone-to-Zone feature, the Back Door feature will be unavailable, and vice versa. That
said, if you have a Back Door station, you can plug it into the same RJ-45 port as the Front Door station
using a Cat5-Y adapter. The only downside is that you will not be able to distinguish (by the sound le or
display on a LyncTouch) if the ring was initiated by someone at the front door or back door.
TIP: In the HTD Lync app (used to control your system), choose the Phone-to-Zone app as one of your
four shortcuts.
