D. FUELING YOUR ENGINE
1. FUEL SAFETY

Use only recommended fuel mixtures.
Mix and pour fuel outdoors and where there
are no sparks or flames.
Use a container approved for fuel.
Donot smokeor allowsmoking nearfuel orthe
tool or while using the tool.
Wipe up all fuel spillsbefore starting engine.
Moveatleast 10feetawayfrom thefueling site
before starting the engine.
Stop the engine before removing the fuel cap.
Empty the fuel tank before storing the tool.
Use up fuel left in the carburetor by starting
the engine and letting it run until it stops.
Store unit and fuel in an area where fuel va-
pors cannot reach sparks or open flames from
waterheaters, electric motors or switches,fur-
naces, etc.
2. FUEL MIXTURE
●
●
●
●
Yourunit is powered by a 2-cycle engine
which requires a fuel mixture of regular
unleaded gasoline and a high quality en-
gine oil specially made for 2-cycle, air-
cooled engines. The internal design of the
2–cycle enginerequires lubrication of moving
parts. Lubrication is provided when the rec-
ommended mixture of gasolineand oil isused.
Genuine HUSQVARNA 50:1, 2-cycle, air
cooled engine oil is strongly recom-
mended for the protection of your unit.
Extensive engineering tests have proven that
HUSQVARNAoilresistsbreak-down atoper-
ating temperatures common to 2–cycle, air
cooled engines, resulting in dependable per-
formance and longer engine life.
Gasoline must be clean and not over two
months old. Gasoline will chemically break
down and form compounds that cause hard
starting and damagein 2–cycle, air cooled en-
gines.
The correct measure of gasoline to oil is
very important. Too much oilin themixture
will foul the spark plug.
ON
: I Too little oil or incorrect oil will
cause the engine to overheat and seize.

USE THE FOLLOWING ONLY:
HUSQVARNA50:12–cycle oil is strongly recom-
mended. A 50:1 fuel mixture = 2.6 oz. oil to 1gal-
lon regular unleaded gasoline. If HUSQVARNA
brand 2–cycle oil isnot available, usea ood qual-
f
ity 2–cycle, air-cooled engine 011mixe ataratio
of 32:1 (4 oz. oil to 1gallon unleaded gasoline).
DO NOT USE THE FOLLOWING:
●
●
NMMA Oil-- National Marine Manufac-
turers Association (formerly BIA)-
Doesnot haveproper additivesfor 2–cycle, air
cooled engines and can cause engine damage.
AUTOMOTIVE OIL-
Doesnot haveproper additivesfor 2–cycle, air
cooled engines and can cause engine damage.
A WARNING
I
Alcohol blended fuels (called gasohol or using
ethanol or methanol) can attract moisture
which leads to separation and formation of
acids during storage. Acidic gascan damage the
fuel system of an engine while in storage. To
avoid engine problems, the fuel system should
be emptied before storage. Drain the gas tank,
start the engine, andlet it run until the fuel lines
and carburetor are empty. Use fresh fuel after
taking theunit out of storage. Seethe “Storage”
section for additional information. Never use
engine or carburetor cleaner products in the
fuel tank or permanent damage may occur.
5. HOW TO MIX FUEL AND FILL TANK
1. Pour thepropermeasureof2–cycle, aircooled
engine oil into an approved, marked fuel con-
tainer. Then, fill the container with regular
unleaded gasoline.
NOTE: If fuel is alreadyin the container, addthe
proper measure of 2–cycle engine oil. Then,
close the container tightly and shake it mo-
mentarily.
NOTE: Do notmixgasolzne andoil directly inthe
fuel tank.
2. Using a spout or funnel, fillthe fuel tank with
fuel mix.
3. Reinstall the fuel cap securely.
