    • V
      Valerie DudleySep 9, 2025
If the firmware loading software indicates “open RS?232 failed”, the device may not be well connected to the PC. Check the cable connection. Another possibility is that other software is using the serial interface. Close any other software that might be using the same serial interface.

    • A
      Ana OsborneAug 23, 2025
If your IDTECH Card Reader isn't reading all cards or fobs, it might be due to a damaged card or fob. Try another one to check. It could also be due to outdated card-brand public certificates (CAPKs) on the card reader. Update the CAPK to resolve this issue. Also, wrong firmware can be the cause of the issue. In this case contact your local support representative.

What to do if LEDs don't light and beeper is not audible on IDTECH Credit Card Machine?
    • E
      Elizabeth CalderonAug 25, 2025
If your IDTECH Credit Card Machine LEDs do not light up and the beeper is silent when presenting a card, fob, or phone, try presenting it closer and parallel to the reader's face. Ensure the card, fob, or phone is valid and that metal isn't interfering. Test with a “ViVOcard Contactless Test Card”. Try a different card/fob and check for damage. Also, verify the correct firmware is loaded (consult your support representative). Ensure the power cable is fully inserted. If the issue persists, consider replacing the unit. The cause may be improper presentation, RF interference, an unsupported card, or incorrect firmware.

What to do if some cards/fobs are not read by IDTECH Payment Terminal?
    • T
      Taylor BakerSep 8, 2025
If some cards/fobs read, but not all, it could be due to a bad card/fob. Check to see if the card/fob is damaged. It may also be caused by an unsupported card or incorrect firmware. Card readers must contain the latest versions of card?brand public certificates (CAPKs). If a CAPK is out of date, one particular kind of card may no longer be usable. Update the CAPK.

What to do if IDTECH Payment Terminal reader does not appear to be powered on?
    • K
      Kimberly DillonSep 5, 2025
If the reader doesn't seem to be powered on (no LEDs lit), the issue might be due to the reader not being powered on, or incorrect voltage. Check the cable connections. Another potential cause is improper use of the internal power supply provided by the kiosk. Verify that the power is on and that the correct voltage and current are present. Also, ensure that the correct pins are utilized, the power provided is within the specified range, and the correct polarity is observed.
