MAXIMUM INERTIAL LIMITS AND ACCELERATION TIME FOR THREE PHASE / STANDARD DESIGN
B / ODP MOTORS
The following table lists permissible values of inertia for two consecutive starts with the motor starting cold or for
one start with the motors at normal operational temperature. The value t(sec) is the acceleration time for these
load values.

BELT TENSION (If applicable)
- Check drive alignment and belt tension. Belt tensioning gauges can be used to determine
whether the belts are tensioned properly. A practical “rule of thumb” is to deflect the belt
1/64” per inch of center distance. In other words, if the center distance between two shafts
is 100 inches, then the belts should deflect 1 9/16” (refer to Figure 20).
-
NOTE: It is important to recheck belt tension after a few days of operation. New
belts require a break in period of operation.
FANS Start
- Turn on power just long enough to start assembly rotating
- Check if the impeller rotation matches the arrow found on the fan scroll
- If the rotation is not correct, interchange any two line leads to reverse rotation
