This device offers a versatile user experience, allowing for remote control, live preview, and a wide range of shooting modes to capture various scenarios.
The Insta360 GO 3 camera, when used independently, is a small, lightweight unit equipped with a lens, a GO 3 button, a camera indicator light, charging points, and a speaker. It is designed for discreet and flexible mounting, enabling users to capture unique perspectives. When placed inside the Action Pod, the GO 3 camera functions as a single action camera, with its internal buttons disabled, and control shifting to the Action Pod's buttons or the Insta360 app.
The Action Pod serves as a control and preview unit for the GO 3 camera. It features a flip touchscreen, an Action Pod indicator light, a shutter button, a power button, charging points, a quick button, a mounting latch, a release switch, and a Type-C charging port. The flip touchscreen allows for real-time monitoring of footage, access to camera settings, and playback of recorded content. When the GO 3 is outside the Action Pod, the Action Pod can be used for remote control and live preview up to 16ft (5m) away, transmitting data via Bluetooth.
The device supports various shooting modes, including:
The GO 3 offers internal storage capacity options of 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB, with a portion reserved for the system.
The Insta360 GO 3 and Action Pod are designed for intuitive operation through a combination of physical buttons and a touchscreen interface.
The touchscreen's main display shows the current shooting mode, battery level, storage capacity, and shooting parameters.
The Insta360 GO 3 is compatible with various accessories for enhanced shooting flexibility:
The Insta360 GO 3 connects to the Insta360 app via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for activation, control, and file transfer. For Android devices, the camera can also connect directly via a USB-C cable for Android Mode, allowing app control and footage access.
Files can be downloaded to a smartphone via the Insta360 app or to a PC using the official USB-C cable. For iPhone users, iTunes is required for PC transfer. Android users can transfer files by connecting their phone to a PC and accessing the DCIM folder. Mac users can use Android File Transfer for Android devices or Finder for iPhones.
The GO 3 camera (when out of the Action Pod) is waterproof up to 16ft (5m), provided the included Lens Guard is installed. The Action Pod is IPX4 water resistant, protecting against light rain and snow, but not suitable for submersion or high-velocity water. For extended underwater use, the GO 3 Dive Case is recommended, making both the camera and Action Pod waterproof up to 196ft (60m).
Regular firmware updates are provided for both the GO 3 and Action Pod to ensure optimal performance. It is recommended to update to the latest version. Before updating, ensure both devices have at least 25% battery remaining.
Separate LED status indicator lights on the camera and Action Pod provide information on their status, such as powering on/off, taking photos, recording videos, charging, and full charge. Other states include firmware updates (slowing flashing blue), cooling down (rapidly flashing yellow), U-Disk/Webcam Mode (solid cyan), storage full/file error/USB error (solid yellow), and insufficient card space (rapidly flashing yellow). Indicator lights can be toggled on/off through the camera's system settings.
