Why is steam leaking from the side of my Instant POT DUO Kitchen Appliances lid?
    • D
      Deborah BondJul 29, 2025
Steam may leak from the side of the Instant Kitchen Appliances lid for several reasons: * There may be no sealing ring installed, or the sealing ring may be damaged or improperly installed. If this is the case, install or replace the sealing ring. * There might be food debris attached to the sealing ring. Remove the sealing ring and clean it thoroughly. * The lid might not be closed properly. Open and then close the lid again. * The sealing ring rack could be warped or off-center. Remove the sealing ring from the lid and check the sealing ring rack for any bends or warps. * The inner cooking pot rim may be misshapen. If the inner cooking pot is deformed, replace it and do not use it.

If steam is gushing from the steam release vent of your Instant Kitchen Appliances when the Steam Release switch is in the Seal position, it could be due to the internal Steam Release valve not seated properly. Try quickly moving the Steam Release switch to Vent and then back to Seal to ensure the Steam Release valve is seated correctly.

If you're having difficulty closing the lid of your Instant Kitchen Appliances, it might be because the sealing ring isn't properly installed. Try repositioning the sealing ring and make sure it's snug behind the sealing ring rack. Alternatively, if the contents in the cooker are still hot, set the Steam Release switch to Vent, then lower the lid onto the cooker base.
