The Interlogix 6540, 6540PI, and 6550 PIR (Passive Infrared) detectors are advanced motion sensing devices designed for use in security systems. These detectors are intended to be connected to a listed burglar alarm control unit or a power supply that provides a voltage output range of between 9 to 15 VDC and delivers a minimum of 4 hours of standby power. They are designed to detect movement of an intruder and activate the alarm control panel.
Function Description
The 6540, 6540PI, and 6550 detectors utilize Passive Infrared (PIR) technology to sense changes in infrared radiation within their detection zones, which are indicative of human movement. When movement is detected, the device triggers an alarm output. The detectors incorporate digital signal processing (DSP) for reliable detection and false alarm immunity. They are designed for indoor use and offer various configuration options to adapt to different environments and security requirements.

Usage Features
The detectors offer several features to optimize their performance and prevent false alarms:
- Installation Guidelines:
- Sunlight: Avoid direct sunlight on the detector.
- Heat Sources: Do not place near heat sources within the detector's field of view.
- Drafts: Avoid strong drafts onto the detector.
- Large Animals: Avoid large animals within the detector's field of view (except for pet immune version).
- Obscuring Field of View: Avoid obscuring the detector's field of view with large objects, such as furniture.
- Outdoor Use: Not suitable for outdoor use.
- Mounting:
- The detector can be mounted on a wall or in a corner.
- Mounting height is adjustable, with specific positions (A, B, C) for optimal coverage.
- The base of the detector should be fixed to the wall using screws, ensuring a minimum of 2 screws (DIN 7998) in positions A (Fig. 3).
- For corner mounting, use screws in positions B or C (Fig. 3).
- The mounting height should be adjusted by positioning the PCB (Fig. 4).
- The detector can be installed using optional swivel-mount brackets (Part Number: 6545-BP) for applications requiring 90° coverage.
- Wiring:
- Dual-loop connection wiring diagram is provided (Fig. 10).
- Walk test (WT) voltage output: Open Collector, 0 V active.
- Jumper Settings:
- Alarm Jumper: Configurable for open circuit (OFF) or end of line resistor 3k3 (ON).
- Sabotage Jumper (Tamper): Configurable for open circuit (OFF) or end of line resistor 3k3 (ON).
- Inverted Input Jumper: Configurable for inverted (SINISTRA) or non-inverted (DESTRA) input.
