Usage Features:

  • Safety Precautions:
    • Do not cross the polarity of the battery.
    • Never plug the battery directly into 240V mains power.
    • Do not open the casing.
    • Avoid throwing, squeezing, puncturing, striking, contorting, heating, burning, or disassembling the battery.
    • Keep children and animals away.
    • If electrolyte is observed, do not touch directly. Wash skin with soap and water, eyes with plenty of water, and seek medical attention immediately.
  • Parallel Connection: All batteries in a parallel bank must have the same voltage before connection. When drawing a load or charging a bank, it should be split across the batteries (e.g., positive to battery 1, negative to battery 4 for a 4-battery bank).
  • Charging:
    • Do not exceed 15V input when charging. A battery charger with a cut-out of 14.7V or less is required.
    • Do not use this battery in series or parallel with a lead-acid battery, calcium battery, or other brand battery.
    • Optimise charging by setting Bulk Voltage/Absorption to 14.40V, Float to 13.50V, and ensuring charge current does not exceed 100Amps per battery in parallel. Equalization Modes and Temperature Compensation should be disabled if possible, or Equalization voltage set to 14.40V.
    • If your charger has a dedicated lithium charge profile, use that profile.
  • Discharge Curve: The iTECH120X has a different discharge curve compared to lead-acid batteries. Users should study the provided discharge curve to understand its performance characteristics. For example, at 100% state of charge, voltage under 0.1C load is 14.0V, dropping to 9.5V at 0% state of charge.
  • Safe Mode: The battery enters "safe mode" if too much power is drawn (over-discharge), voltage drops to 9V or less, terminals are shorted, or excessive current is drawn. In safe mode, the battery appears as an open circuit with no or low voltage detected and no current output.
  • Resetting Safe Mode:
    • Jumper Cable Method: Connect the positive terminal of the safe-mode battery to the positive terminal of another 12V battery (AGM, Gel, or lead acid) with a red jumper lead. Then, connect the negative terminal of the charged battery to the negative terminal of the flat battery with a black jumper lead. Leave connected for a maximum of 60 seconds. Disconnect negative clamps first, then positive. Once the battery reaches approximately 10.8V, the BMS will reset.
    • iTECH2000A Jumpstarter Method: Connect jump starter clamps to the iTECH2000A jump starter. Press and hold the jump start button on the clamps until the countdown timer initiates. Within 60 seconds, connect the positive clamp to the iTECH120X positive terminal, then the negative clamp to the negative terminal. Leave connected until the countdown ends. Repeat if necessary.
    • iTechworld 30A Battery Charger Method: Connect the charger's positive clamp to the iTECH120X positive terminal and the negative clamp to the negative terminal. Turn on the charger. If it doesn't start charging (only a green LED illuminates, ammeter at 0), momentarily remove and then reconnect the negative battery clamp while the charger is still powered on. The charger should then start charging.
    • iTechworld Lithium Bypass Switch: Install the bypass switch connecting only the positive terminals of the iTECH120X and your main starting battery (or any other battery). Both batteries must share the same negative ground, and the arrow on the switch must point to the iTECH120X. Press and hold the button for a few seconds to reset the BMS.

Maintenance Features:

  • Storage:
    • Store in a dry and ventilated environment, ideally below 25°C to extend battery life.
    • Avoid storage temperatures above 40°C for more than 30 days, as this can shorten battery life. Temperatures above 55°C can damage the battery.
    • For storage longer than 50 days, maintain a charge capacity between 70% and 80% (approximately 13.2V).
    • Check voltage and charge every 30 days when stored.
  • Transportation:
    • Handle carefully; do not throw or squeeze. Avoid placing heavy objects on top to prevent casing warp.
    • Ensure the battery is in a secure spot to prevent punctures.
    • Do not store with flammable, explosive goods, or sharp metals.
    • Inspect for damage upon delivery and contact iTechworld immediately if issues are found.

Warranty Information:

  • Warranty Period: 3 years for automotive applications (cycling and non-cycling).
  • Australian Consumer Law: Goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded. Entitlement to replacement/refund for major failure, or repair/replacement for non-major failure.
  • Limited Warranty: The warranty program is the sole one applicable, outlining iTechworld's responsibilities. Any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose is limited to the duration of this warranty.
  • Exclusions:
    • Not warranted for use in residential systems sold for "Tariff Adjustment Programs."
    • Does not cover a battery reaching its normal end of life prior to the stated warranty period due to application usage.
  • Return/Repair Policy:
    • Contact customer service (sales@itechworld.com.au or 1300 483 249) for problems.
    • Defective units returned within 30 days of purchase will be replaced free of charge.
    • Units returned between 30 days and three years will be repaired or replaced free of charge (new or reconditioned parts/units at iTechworld's option).
    • Repaired/replaced units carry the remainder of the original warranty period.
    • Customer is responsible for shipping charges on returned items.
  • Voiding the Warranty:
    • Wilful abuse, misuse, physical damage, neglect, or removal of the decorative cover.
    • Damage from natural forces (wind, lightning, hail), fire, collision, explosion, vandalism, theft, penetration, or opening of the battery case.
    • Incorrect installation (MUST be installed upright; upside down or on its side voids warranty).
    • Overcharging, undercharging, charging or installing in reverse polarity, improper maintenance, deep discharge via parasitic load, or mishandling (e.g., using terminals for lifting).
    • Charging sources with charge voltage outside 13.5V-14.5V (no lower than 13.0V, no higher than 14.7V). Alternators must deliver 13.5V-14.2V at battery terminals.
    • Failure to install correctly.
    • Repair attempts by unauthorized personnel.
    • Normal or accelerated deterioration due to operating or application conditions.
    • Using the battery for applications requiring higher cranking power or reserve rating than designed, or if capacity is less than specified, or used in unintended applications.
    • Prolonged storage without charge or with parasitic load, not offset by maintenance-float charging (no more than 13.5V) or periodic charging/disconnecting.
    • A battery with an open circuit voltage (OCV) of 10.0V or less is deemed over-discharged, voiding warranty due to misuse/neglect.
    • WARNING: Do NOT use oil, organic solvent, alcohol, detergent, strong acids, strong alkalis, petroleum-based solvent, or ammonia solution to clean battery covers and end plates, as this causes permanent damage and voids warranty.
  • Specific Exclusions:
    • Not designed or warranted for Aviation aircraft applications.
    • Not designed or warranted for lifesaving applications.
    • Not to be exported.
    • Not for residential systems sold for "Tariff Adjustment Programs."
  • Self-Discharge & Maintenance: The battery has a low self-discharge rate, but it is the user's responsibility to maintain a charged state. Do not leave for more than 30 days without checking charge. iTechworld recommends checking and charging every 30 days for batteries in "storage state" to maintain maximum life expectancy. Failure to follow these requirements will result in early battery failure not covered under warranty.
