Section 2: Installation
2465-623 User Manual Rev F Page 9
The encoder uses a wheel
that rolls against the con-
veyor line to track its speed. It
sends a signal to the control-
ler, which adjusts for changes
in line speed.
It is not necessary to install
the encoder immediately adja-
cent to the print heads. It is
more important to place it
where it will accurately mea-
sure the speed of the con-
veyor. Install it in contact with
the conveyor, or with a wheel
or roller moving the same
speed as the conveyor.
The encoder's mounting
bracket is spring-loaded.
Adjust the spring collar to
ensure that the encoder main-
tains stable contact with the
conveyor.
CAUTION: Do not jam the encoder wheel against the surface of the conveyor. A radial
force of over 40 lbs. will reduce the life of the bearings.
