Check the VU meters on the source mixer and verify that the tape or CD is playing. Use headphones to confirm that the instrument is actually sending an audio signal. Another potential cause is faulty cables and connections. Disconnect and re-seat the signal cables, and replace any suspected cable with a known-good cable.

You can also try 'telescoping' the audio ground by using an XLR/F to XLR/M adapter with Pin 1 disconnected, and re-route audio cables away from AC power and lighting cables. Another cause could be an excessively long unbalanced cable run. Use the balanced outputs (if available) of your mixer or source equipment to drive your EON speakers or use a “DI” (direct injection) box to convert your unbalanced equipment output to a balanced output. It may also be due to improper system gain structure. Reduce the INPUT 1, LINE 2, and LINE 3 controls and increase the output level of your source devices.

  If you are experiencing feedback and howling from your JBL Speakers when the microphone volume is turned up, it could be because the microphones are pointed towards the speakers.
