Handling Palleted Loads
!MWARNING
Make sure you know the weight of the load before
lifting it. Do not exceed the SWL of the machine with
the carriage/attachment you are using.
9-2-3-1
!MCAUTION
Load and unload on firm, level ground. Always be alert
for possible hazards. Take special care when turning
or reversing.
5-2-4-7
!MWARNING
Forks are heavy. Take care when spacing forks or
folding back the forks.

!MCAUTION
One-Fork Lifting
A load lifted on one fork can slip off. Never lift a load
with one fork.
5-1-4-3
!MCAUTION
Fork Spacing
Loads can fall off incorrectly spaced forks. Always
space the forks correctly for the load. Make sure the
forks are completely under the load before lifting.
5-1-4-2
Use the mast tilt to aid load pick-up and placing, and to
compensate for small variations in gradient.
Loading
1 Space the forks as wide as possible to suit the load.
K Repositioning the Forks ( T 66).
Fig 48.
2 Put the forks in the horizontal position.
3 Approach the load straight-on, not at an angle, with all
wheels straight. Stop the machine with the forks just
in front of the load. Engage the park brake. Put the
transmission in neutral.
!MCAUTION
An unsound pallet can break and spill the load. Make
sure that the pallet is in good condition before lifting it.
9-2-3-2
4 Select first gear, release the park brake and carefully
drive forward to insert the forks cleanly under the
pallet. Stop when the fork uprights just touch the load.
Engage the park brake. Put the transmission in
neutral.
!MWARNING
If the machine starts to feel unstable when you begin
lifting the load, lower the load immediately.
5-2-4-9
5 Raise the load slightly. Tilt the mast back just enough
to stabilise the load.
