Overview

The JET Revelation Reverb V2.0 is a versatile stereo reverb pedal designed to offer a wide range of lush, modulated, and octave-enhanced reverb effects. It builds upon the original Revelation Reverb with significant upgrades, including true stereo inputs and outputs, enhanced control, and extensive MIDI integration.

Function Description:

The Revelation V2.0 provides three distinct, user-selectable algorithms:

  • Cyan (Sky Blue) - Mod Algorithm: This algorithm creates deep, lush modulated hall-type reverbs, ideal for generating "heavenly pads" or "out of this world swells" when the decay is cranked up. The Cntrl 1 knob adjusts the amount of modulation present in the reverb trails, acting as a volume control for the fixed modulation parameters.
  • White (Ice) - Shimmer Algorithm: Based on a warmer hall-type reverb, this algorithm adds an upper octave fed into the reverb trails. This creates a warm yet bright upper octave effect, useful for crafting pads that cut through a mix. The Decay and Cntrl 1 knobs are interactive; the Decay knob controls how long the shimmer persists in the trails, while the Cntrl 1 knob acts as a volume control for the shimmer level.
  • Yellow (Sub) - Sub Algorithm (Anti-Shimmer): This algorithm uses the warm hall reverb as its base but allows for blending in both a lower octave and a sub-octave simultaneously. Users are advised to use this judiciously, as increasing the lower octaves can lead to a "completely different sound spectrum." The Mix and Cntrl 1 knobs work interactively, with higher Mix settings often yielding better results with lower Cntrl 1 settings. The Cntrl 1 knob functions as a volume control for the lower octave level in the reverb trails.

The pedal features a Mix knob to control the blend between the wet and dry signals, ranging from 100% dry (fully counter-clockwise) to 100% wet (fully clockwise). A 50/50 mix is achieved around the 10 to 11 o'clock position. The Decay knob determines the length of the reverb trails, with a range from 50 milliseconds to over 1 minute.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Power: Requires a 9V (Negative Tip) power supply. A power supply is not included.
  • Current Draw: Requires 200mA or larger power supply. Using anything less can result in performance issues and may damage the unit, voiding the warranty.
  • Dimensions: 4.82" x 2.62" x 1.425"
  • Connectivity: True stereo inputs and outputs. MIDI communication conforms to TRS to MIDI adapter specifications issued by the MIDI Association. Requires a 5-pin to 1/4" TRS adapter cable wired to the TRS specification, a compatible MIDI box (e.g., Midi Box 4 by Disaster Area Designs), or a compatible MIDI controller with TRS MIDI outputs (e.g., Futurist by Matthews Effects or Disaster Area Designs controllers).
  • Presets:
    • Non-MIDI Revelation: 3 onboard presets.
    • MIDI-Enabled Revelation: 125 onboard presets (0-124). The first three can be saved via pedal buttons/knobs, and the remaining 122 via MIDI controller.
  • Wet Mix: 0-100% wet mix capability.
  • Decay Time: Over 1 minute of decay.

Usage Features:

  • Soft Click Bypass Switches: The pedal utilizes soft-click bypass and preset switches with time-based functions.
  • Live Mode: In Live Mode, all three knobs (Mix, Decay, Cntrl 1) are active, allowing for real-time sound shaping.
  • Preset Mode: A short press of the preset switch enters Preset Mode, where knobs are locked/inactive. Pressing the preset switch again returns to Live Mode.
  • Multi-Colored LEDs: LEDs indicate preset and algorithm status.
  • Algorithm Switching: Press and hold the Bypass switch for at least 3/4 of a second to cycle through algorithms.
  • Preset Switching: Press and release both Bypass and Preset switches simultaneously to cycle through presets. This can be done in any state (off, on, or in preset mode). Do not hold for longer than 2 seconds, as this enters "Preset Save Mode."
  • Infinite Bloom: Press and hold the Preset switch to engage infinite Bloom. The Preset LED will flash, and the Decay knob will gracefully increase to its maximum setting. Releasing the switch allows the Decay knob to return to its original setting.
  • Graceful Transition: When switching between modes (Live/Preset) or presets, if transitioning from a long decay to a shorter one, the pedal enters a "graceful transition" state. The Preset LED flashes, indicating the Decay knob is returning to its new setting. During this time, Bypass and Preset switches are inactive.
  • Saving Presets (On-Pedal):
    1. Enter "Preset Save Mode" by pressing and holding both Bypass and Preset switches for over 2 seconds. The Bypass LED will flash.
    2. In this mode, a short press of the Preset switch changes the preset location (Mix LED changes colors), and a short press of the Bypass switch changes the algorithm (Decay LED changes colors).
    3. Dial in desired algorithm, preset location, and knob positions.
    4. Press and hold the Preset switch for at least 2 seconds to save the preset and remain in "Preset Save Mode."
    5. To save and exit "Preset Save Mode," hold down both Preset and Bypass switches for at least 2 seconds. The Bypass LED will stop flashing.
    6. To exit "Preset Save Mode" without saving, press and hold the Bypass switch for over 2 seconds.
  • MIDI Integration:
    • MIDI Channel Change: Upon powering up, hold down the Preset switch while the pedal is in startup mode (Mix & Decay knobs white, Bypass & Preset LEDs flashing). The Bypass LED will flash the current MIDI channel number (1-16). Press the Bypass switch to increment the channel. Release the Preset switch to save the new setting.
    • Saving Presets Via MIDI (CC Snapshot): In Live Mode, select the desired algorithm and set knobs. Send MIDI CC #28 with a Value from 3 to 124. The pedal takes a snapshot of settings, and knobs flash green to confirm saving. To recall, send a PC message with the same number used for the CC #28 Value.
    • Program Change (PC) Messages:
      • PC #0: Recalls the first preset (UV).
      • PC #1: Recalls the second preset (Red).
      • PC #2: Recalls the third preset (Green).
      • PC #3-124: Recalls presets created by CC Snapshot (Blue). In this mode, all LEDs are blue, and knobs are active. Moving a knob from its saved position changes the LED color; returning to the saved position makes it blue again. For the Cntrl 1 knob (non-illuminated), Preset and Bypass LEDs dim when moved and return to full brightness when returned to the saved position.
    • Control Change (CC) Messages:
      • CC #20 (0-127): Controls Mix knob (0=100% dry, 127=100% wet, 64=noon).
      • CC #21 (0-127): Controls Decay knob.
      • CC #22 (0-127): Controls Cntrl 1 knob.
      • CC #23 (0-63=Bypass off, 64-127=Bypass on).
      • CC #24 (0-63=Preset switch off, 64-127=Preset switch on).
      • CC #25 (0-127): Increments Preset number.
      • CC #26 (0-127): Decrements Preset number.
      • CC #27: Activates algorithms (0-42=Sky Blue, 43-85=Ice, 86-127=Yellow Sub).
      • CC #28 (3-124): Activates CC Snapshot mode (saves current settings to permanent memory at the specified preset location).
      • CC #29 (0-63=Infinite Decay off, 64-127=Infinite Decay on). Infinite Bloom can also be exited with footswitches.
  • Reverb Trails: Trails are always available when bypassing the Revelation V2.0. Trails are also available when switching between Live Mode and Presets, but only when staying within the same algorithm. Switching between algorithms will not have reverb trails.
  • Mono/Stereo Operation:
    • Using the L input and L output runs the Revelation in mono. Plugging into the R input automatically engages stereo algorithms.
    • Mono input and stereo output can be achieved by plugging into the L input and using both outputs.

Maintenance Features:

  • Power Supply Check: If the pedal makes funny noises or LEDs flash white, it indicates insufficient power. Ensure a 200mA or larger power supply is used and not a 100mA port. Underpowering can damage the unit and void the warranty.
  • MIDI Cable Compatibility: If the Revelation is not responding to MIDI messages, verify that the MIDI cable conforms to TRS standards (tip active, ring 5 volts, sleeve grounded). Contact the manufacturer for cable recommendations if needed.
