Why does my JetCat RXi Engine quit with a trail of white smoke?
    • L
      Lori DeanAug 13, 2025
The engine quitting with white smoke is typically caused by air in the fuel system or fuel failure due to low RPM. Ensure there are no leaks in the fuel system, and most importantly, remove all air from the fuel filter. The fuel filter should hang freely, preferably mounted vertically. When purging the fuel system, tap the filters while the pump runs to dislodge trapped air. Consider using a BVM Ultimate Air Trap.

What to do if my JetCat Engine turbine doesn't ignite?
    • J
      Joseph HarrisAug 16, 2025
If the turbine fails to ignite, the fuel supply lines may be empty or not purged, the ECU battery might be weak, or the kero start igniter could have failed. Ensure you purge the fuel system using the Test Functions Menu and charge the ECU battery. In rare cases of igniter failure, contact JetCat for information about using a temporary external plug.

What to do if my JetCat Engine starting process fails?
    • K
      Kevin ContrerasAug 20, 2025
If the starting process fails, it could be due to several reasons: * The turbine is still too warm; make sure the Cool Down sequence is completed (wait until the green OK LED stops blinking). * Low battery or faulty connection; charge the battery and check the ECU's battery connection. * Defective glow plug (red Pump running LED blinks); replace the glow plug. * Three-conductor cable for starter motor and glow plug disconnected; check the cable and ensure a proper connection from the ECU to the turbine.

What to do if my JetCat RXi Engine turbine ignites, but the start process is discontinued?
    • D
      Daniel FranklinAug 23, 2025
If the turbine ignites but the start process is discontinued, it may be due to air in the fuel feed lines or the fuel pump not running. Check for air leaks in the fuel system, examining all Festo fittings, nipples, clunk, and filter. Also, check for fuel filter clogs. Test the pump in the Test Functions menu; the fuel pump must run as soon as the red Pump running LED illuminates.

Why does my JetCat RXi Engine turbine quit with Watchdog Failure?
    • L
      Laura ScottAug 27, 2025
If the turbine quits with a Watchdog Failure, it indicates that static discharge reset the ECU. To prevent this, avoid mounting the ECU directly to the fiberglass body of the plane. Use a plywood mount with foam tape and Velcro between the body and the ECU. If the plane has a glossy finish and the failure occurred after takeoff, spray the tires with an anti-static spray.

How to fix JetCat Engine ECU when it doesn't follow full commands from the throttle stick?
    • K
      Kimberly WhiteheadAug 31, 2025
If the ECU isn't following throttle stick commands, it's likely due to a programming alteration in the R/C transmitter. Check the alignment with the RC-Check menu and re-align the ECU to the R/C system.

Why does my JetCat Engine starter unit slips and makes noise?
    • C
      cruzjohnSep 4, 2025
If the starter unit slips and makes noise, it's caused by dust and oil sediment on the compressor nut and O-ring. Clean the O-ring and compressor nut periodically with a cotton swab and solvent.

What causes erratic temperature or RPM readings in my JetCat RXi EGT?
    • L
      Leah JacobsonSep 7, 2025
Erratic temperature or RPM readings from the EGT can be caused by the transmitter antenna being too close to the model. Keep the antenna away from the model, as this can cause false readings.
