SERVICE POINTS

Overview

The JetSurf Factory GP is a motorized power board designed for water sports, offering an exhilarating experience on sheltered coastal waters, small bays, lakes, rivers, and canals. This user manual, comprising parts A and B, provides comprehensive instructions for its operation, maintenance, and safety.

Function Description

The JetSurf Factory GP is powered by a two-stroke, horizontal, single-cylinder MSR 50.2 engine, specifically developed for JetSurf. The engine is water-cooled and features an electric starter. Fuel is supplied from a dedicated fuel tank, and exhaust gases are expelled through an exhaust system. An Ignition Control Unit (ICU) manages the engine's ignition and provides diagnostic feedback through an LED indicator. The board is controlled via a handle, which includes a throttle trigger, an engine shut-off switch, and an engine shut-off key. Fins (side and main) are attached to the board's underside for stability and maneuverability. An electric bilge pump is integrated to remove water from the internal area of the JetSurf, ensuring proper operation.

Usage Features

Before each ride, it is crucial to check the fuel tank for sufficient fuel, water, or fragments. The fuel system requires a specific mixture of lead-free car petrol (95 octane or higher) and MOTOREX OCEAN FS 2T BIO oil in a 50:1 ratio. Using incorrect fuel or oil can lead to engine damage not covered by the warranty. The fuel tank has an overpressure valve and a venting hose leading to the air intake.

The control handle is essential for operating the JetSurf. The engine shut-off key, attached to the rider's wrist, is a critical safety feature. If the rider falls, the key detaches, automatically stopping the engine and preventing the board from continuing its movement, thus reducing the risk of damage or injury. It is vital to never leave the engine shut-off key in the switch for extended periods (over 30 seconds, overnight, or during transport) as this can lead to battery discharge and irreversible damage. The throttle trigger on the handle controls engine output, with JetSurf recommending beginners to limit the throttle to 1/3 of its range using the provided speed limiter.

The ICU manages various operational states:

  • Power Off: The ICU is off, and the indicator is not lit.
  • ICU Diagnostics/Power On: Inserting the key into the handle switch turns on the ICU, initiating a battery charge-up test and activating the electric bilge pump. The LED lights red, then orange.
  • Idle (Initial State) / Water Suction: Removing the key after switching on the ICU puts it in idle state, where the electric bilge pump sucks water from the internal area of the JetSurf. The LED slowly flashes orange.
  • Ride: Placing the key back into the switch activates the ride state, indicated by the LED flashing green at variable speeds.
  • Engine Cleaning: This state is activated by placing and leaving the key (or a magnet from the wristband) in the "CLEANING/OFF" position on the ICU indicator. This function helps remove water or excess fuel from the engine and prime the carburetor. The LED flashes fast in orange.
  • Fault: Any faults are signaled by the LED flashing red. Error codes are signaled three times if the key is removed, and continuously if the key is inserted.

The ride duration indicator helps monitor fuel levels. It flashes green for the first 20 minutes of riding (full tank) and then purple, indicating approximately half a tank of fuel.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and safe operation of the JetSurf.

  • Fuel System: Always check the fuel tank for water or fragments before each ride. If found, do not operate the board and contact an authorized JetSurf sales representative for assistance. Dispose of contaminated fuel properly.
  • Exhaust System: Ensure the exhaust system is completely installed and clean before every operation. Running the engine for more than 10 seconds out of water can damage the exhaust system and other engine components due to insufficient cooling.
  • Electric Bilge Pump: Check the function of the bilge pumps before and during every ride. Keep the suction filters clean to ensure efficient water removal from the board's internal area.
  • Carburetor: The carburetor is a highly sophisticated component with tamper-proof screws. Adjustments to the freewheel screw (position 1) can be made to set the engine's operating speed. If the engine stops by itself, tighten the freewheel screw by half a turn. If revolutions are too high, loosen the screw. The freewheel jet L (position 2) and main jet H (position 3) screws should always be left to the seller for adjustment. Unauthorized interference with the carburetor settings can lead to poor engine operation and damage, voiding the warranty.
  • Ignition Control Unit (ICU): The internal battery of the ICU must be charged before and during rides that exceed its charge capacity. The board must be taken out of water, dried, and the ICU made accessible for charging. Never attempt to remove the spark plug boot when the ICU is connected and operating, as it carries high voltage.
  • Engine Starter: Avoid excessive use of the starter to prevent overheating and damage. If the engine does not start after three attempts, check all board elements (hoses, connections, spark plug) and ensure no water is in the engine. Allow the starter to cool down before attempting to restart.

Always transport fuel in approved canisters and avoid transporting fuel in the board's fuel tank or engine to prevent damage or injury. The user manual emphasizes the importance of adhering to all safety warnings and instructions to ensure a safe and enjoyable JetSurf experience.
