Troubleshooting
3-
6. If other equipment, cables, and connectors are being used with the analyzer
module, make sure they are clean, connected properly, and operating
correctly.
7. Review the procedure for the measurement being performed when the
problem appeared. Are all the settings correct?
If the analyzer is not functioning as expected, return the unit to a known
state by clicking Utility > Preset.
8. Is the measurement being performed, and the results that are expected,
within the specifications and capabilities of the analyzer? Refer to the online
Data Sheet at
http://literature.cdn.keysight.com/litweb/pdf/5992-2765EN.pdf for
analyzer specifications.
9. With a soft failure, the network analyzer’s performance has degraded to an
unacceptable level, yet it continues to operate and display no error
messages. For this type of failure, TME performance tests must be
conducted to isolate the problem. If the network analyzer fails the TME
performance tests but pass the operator’s check, the connector could be at
fault, consider change the connector by referring to “Connector
Replacement Procedure” on page 63.
10. If the problem is thought to be due to firmware, check to see if the
instrument has the latest firmware before troubleshooting further. Check for
firmware updates at https://www.keysight.com/find/usb-vna.
11. If the necessary test equipment is available, perform the “The Operator’s
Check” on page 33 and “System Verification” on page 36.
