8.4ForoperationofTypeFASspringreturnactuatorsequippedwithFSWmanualoperators,readthefollowing
instructionscarefullybeforehandling.
8.4.1Manualoperation
(1) Equalizethehousingpressurewiththeatmosphericlevel.
(2)Rotateahandwheelcounter-clockwisetoopenthevalve.
(3)Attheendofthehandwheeltravel,apositionindicatorofanactuatorwillindicatethatthevalveisfully
open. Addinganyfurtherloadtothehandwheelmaycausedamageorfailureoftheactuator.
(4)Rotatethehandwheelclockwisetoclosethevalve.
(5)Attheendofthereversetravelofthehandwheel,thepositionindicatorwillindicatethatthevalveisfully
closed. Addinganyfurtherloadmaycausedamageorfailureoftheactuator.
Don’tuseleversorwrenchestorotatehandwheelsofFSWunits.Anexcessiveloadto
thehandwheelsmaycausedamageorfailureofactuators.
When manual operation of an actuator is changed to automated operation, ensure to
rotateahandwheelclockwisetillitcompletelystops. Otherwise,subsequentautomated
operationofanactuatormaycauseinadequatevalveopeningrangeanddamageofthe
actuator.
