Spark plug inspection
The spark plug is an important engine component,
which should be checked periodically.
1. Remove the screws, and then remove the cover.

2. Remove the spark plug cap and cap, and insert
the tool through the hole from the outside of the
cover.

3. Insert the handlebar into the tool and turn it coun-
terclockwise to remove the spark plug.

4. Check for discoloration and remove the carbon.
The porcelain insulator around the center elec-
trode of spark plug should be a medium-to-light
tan color.
5. Check the spark plug type and gap.

TIP
The spark plug gap should be measured with a wire
thickness gauge and, if necessary, adjusted to specifi-
cation.

0.6–0.7 mm (0.024–0.028 in)
