•YouarefamiliarwithNMEAandotherrelevantdatagramformats.
•Youknowhowtosetuptheparametersforserialandlocalareanetwork(LAN)
communication.
•TheST90systemisturnedonandoperatesnormally.
Youneedthefollowingtestequipment:

•NMEASimulatorsoftware
Forconnectionsandcommunicationparameters,seetherelevantend-userdocumentation
fromthesensormanufacturer.

Mostglobalpositioningsystem(GPS)receiversprovideNMEA0183datagramscontaining
geographicallatitudeandlongitudeinformation,aswellascurrentspeedandsaileddistance.
SomeGPSsystemswillalsoprovidethecurrentheading,butthisinformationisnormally
takenfromthegyro.
