Prerequisites
TheST90systemhasbeensetupwithitshardwareunitsconnectedasspeciedinthe
InstallationManual.
•ApersonalcomputerwithasensorsimulatorprogramisconnectedtotheST90system.
Thesimulatorisactive.
•Theinterfaceportissetupwiththecorrectcommunicationparameters.
•YouarefamiliarwithNMEAandotherrelevantdatagramformats.
•Youknowhowtosetuptheparametersforserialandlocalareanetwork(LAN)
communication.
•TheST90systemisturnedonandoperatesnormally.
Youneedthefollowingtestequipment:
•Personalcomputer
•NMEASimulatorsoftware
Forconnectionsandcommunicationparameters,seetherelevantend-userdocumentation
fromthesensormanufacturer.

Note
Theinputfromacoursegyroisessentialforoperation.Withouttheinputfromacourse
gyro,theST90systemwillnotbeabletopresentcorrectnavigationalinformation.Thislack
ofcompensationwillpreventthesystemfromprovidingcorrectechoinformation.
Inmostcasesasuitablecoursegyroisalreadyinstalledonthevessel.Aglobalpositioning
system(GPS)withacompatibleoutputformatcanalsobeused.
ThepropertiesofeachoftheavailablecommunicationportsaredenedontheI/OSetup
page.TheSensorInstallationpageallowsyourST90systemtocommunicatewithexternal
sensorsandsystems.Tomakesurethattheinformationfromthe"mostreliable"sensorsare
usedbytheST90system,usetheSensorCongurationpagetodeneadatagrampriorities.
