Note
ThespeedinputisessentialforST90operation.Withoutspeedinformation,theST90system
willneitherbeabletopresentcorrectnavigationalinformation,norcompensateforvessel
movements.Thislackofcompensationwillpreventthesystemfromprovidingcorrectecho
information.Ifyoudonotuseadedicatedspeedlog,butratheraGPSsystem,youcanskip
thistest.
Inmostcasesasuitablesensorisalreadyinstalledonthevessel.Aglobalpositioningsystem
(GPS)withacompatibleoutputformatcanalsobeused.
ThepropertiesofeachoftheavailablecommunicationportsaredenedontheI/OSetup
page.TheSensorInstallationpageallowsyourST90systemtocommunicatewithexternal
sensorsandsystems.Tomakesurethattheinformationfromthe"mostreliable"sensorsare
usedbytheST90system,usetheSensorCongurationpagetodeneadatagrampriorities.
ThecommunicationparametersdenedforNMEA0183are:
•Baudrate:4800bit/s
•Databits:8
•Parity:Even
•Stopbits:1
Someinstrumentsmayprovideotherparametersand/oroptions.Youmustalwayscheckthe
relevanttechnicaldocumentationsuppliedbythemanufacturer.

2OntheSetupmenu,selectInstallation.
ObservethattheInstallationdialogboxopens.Thisdialogboxcontainsanumberof
pagesselectedfromthemenuontheleftside.
3OntheleftsideoftheInstallationdialogbox,selectI/OSetup.
