Overview

The KRAUSE ClimTec® Scaffold Tower is a modular mobile scaffold tower designed for safe and efficient work at height, adhering to DIN EN 1004-2 and EN 1004-1 standards. It is a load class 3 scaffold, meaning it can support a platform surface area load of 200 kg/m², with a maximum permitted load per platform of 180 kg when evenly distributed, allowing for up to two persons with this combined weight. The maximum horizontal force for platforms is 30 kg.

Function Description:

The ClimTec® Scaffold Tower is intended for use as a mobile working platform, providing a stable and secure elevated workspace. Its modular design allows for various configurations, including basic scaffold setups, extensions for increased working height (up to 5 meters indoors and outdoors), and specialized setups for stairs. The system incorporates the GuardMatic-System® for enhanced side protection and ease of assembly. It can be equipped with castors for mobility or secured with adjustable stabilisers, outriggers, or ballast weights for stability, depending on the configuration and environmental conditions.

Important Technical Specifications:

The manual provides a detailed list of components with their article numbers and approximate weights, facilitating inventory management and ensuring the use of correct parts. Key components include:

Usage Features:

The ClimTec® is designed for versatility and safety in various working environments.

  • Modular Assembly: The system can be assembled in different configurations, including a basic scaffold, a basic scaffold with one extra level (5-meter working height), and a basic scaffold with one or two extra platforms (7-meter working height).
  • Stair Setup: Specific instructions are provided for setting up the ClimTec® on stairs with 500 mm and 750 mm height differences, requiring careful leveling with pressure-resistant objects and the attachment of ballast weights.
  • GuardMatic-System®: This system provides comprehensive side protection, including toe boards, for platforms at heights exceeding one meter, enhancing user safety during assembly and use.
  • Mobility: Optional castors (Ø 125 mm or height-adjustable Ø 150 mm) allow the scaffold to be moved. Crucially, all castors must be locked before climbing, and the scaffold must not be moved with materials or persons on it. Movement should occur on a solid, level surface free from obstacles, at a pace no faster than normal walking speed, and only longitudinally or diagonally.
  • Stability: Stability is ensured through adjustable stabilisers, outriggers, or ballast weights, with specific requirements detailed in tables based on the tower's height and whether it is used indoors, outdoors, or attached to a wall.
  • Wall Attachment: The ClimTec® can be fastened to a wall using stabilisers at a height of 2 meters, with specific ballast requirements outlined.
  • Safety Information: The manual emphasizes critical safety precautions, such as ensuring all components are undamaged and original KRAUSE parts, checking vertical and horizontal alignment with a spirit level, and adhering to wind force limits (up to force 6, ~45 km/h). It strictly prohibits improper uses like creating bridges, combining multiple ClimTec®s, using it as a stair tower for buildings, attaching lifting devices, or using it as a personal fall protection attachment point.

Maintenance Features:

  • Pre-assembly Inspection: Before erecting or reconfiguring the ClimTec®, all parts must be checked for damage. Any damaged components must be replaced.
  • Component Integrity: The inspection must verify that weld seams are intact, components are free from cracks, deformation, or dents, and castors and platform hatches are in proper working order.
  • Original Spare Parts: The manual explicitly states that only original KRAUSE components and spare parts should ever be used for maintenance and repairs to ensure the scaffold's safety and integrity.
  • Post-assembly Labelling: After assembly or reconfiguration, the ClimTec® must be clearly labelled with the name and contact details of the person in charge, its readiness for use, load class, evenly distributed load, indoor-use-only status (if applicable), and the erection date. This labelling is a legal requirement in some countries.
