      Uneven stubble can occur for several reasons. It might be due to dull or broken knives, in which case you should replace them. Another cause could be knives not installed correctly; ensure the arrow on the knife upper face points in the disc's direction of rotation. Insufficient disk speed, caused by belt tension, or too low PTO speed, correct this by increasing speed to 540 min-1. Finally, a cutter bar pitch angle that is too high can also cause this issue, so reduce the angle.

To fix this, lower the chassis prior to raising it for positioning the hitch pins at 450 mm (1’5’’) from the ground. Alternatively, adjust the cam position.

Excessive ground speed can also be a factor, so reduce your speed. Additionally, a blocked hydraulic cylinder can cause this; set the hydraulic valve in a floating position. Incorrect mowing unit floatation may be the reason, so adjust the suspension hydraulic circuit. Lastly, check the condition of the cutter bar pivot bushes for wear or seizure and replace if necessary.
