Simple Trouble Shooting Guide - Continued
Low Pressure Fault
This means that the heat pump system has detected a lower pressure, set on the
low pressure switch.
Causes - In Heating
1. Dirty outdoor coils
2. Poor airflow through the outdoor coils
3. Outdoor fan failure
4. Blockage in the pipe work ie liquid or expansion pipe
5. Insufficient refrigerant (S O G) short of gas
6. No refrigerant, caused by a leak
7. Faulty low pressure switch
8. Fault on the reversing valve
9. Extremely low ambient temperatures
High Discharge Temperature
This will cause the compressor to burn out if not rectified in time
Causes - In Heating
1. Insufficient refrigerant
2. Partial blockage in the pipe work
3. Compressor continually stop –start
4. Poor airflow through the outdoor coil
In Defrost Mode
1. Insufficient refrigerant
2. Partial blockage in the pipe work
3. Compressor continually stop –start
4. Poor water flow through the indoor coil
5. Low wet bulb conditions due to high sensible heat loads
6. Low evaporation temperatures.
