3.3 Fuel
The Model 425HD-MD Articulator is equipped with an 8.5 gallon fuel tank, which is
located behind the left fender. The Articulator is shipped dry (no fuel) from the factory, so
you will need to fuel the Articulator before operating. The fuel tank cap also serves as a
gauge indicating the fuel level in the tank. Do not attempt to fuel the Articulator until
you read and understand the entire INITIAL SET-UP section of this manual.
Diesel Fuel: Use only No. 2 diesel fuel oil. Do not use any other alternative fuel. Kero-
sene and low quality diesel fuel oil will adversely affect the engine. Always use a strainer
when filling the fuel tank. Contaminants in the fuel can adversely affect the fuel injection
pump.
Do not allow the fuel tank to drain completely of fuel. This can allow air into the fuel sys-
tem. If this happens, the fuel system will have to be bled before restarting the engine.
Diesel Fuel is flammable!
NEVER store diesel fuel in unapproved containers, in confined areas,
or near spark or open flame!
NEVER smoke near diesel fuel!
ALWAYS turn off engine before refueling!
NEVER refuel indoors or when engine is hot!
ALWAYS clean up all spilled fuel before starting engine!
NEVER smoke while refueling!
NEVER allow fuel tank to drain completely of fuel! Air can get into the
fuel system and disable the engine, necessitating bleeding of entire
fuel system prior to operation!
