Step 1. Slide the left-side latch to the unlocked position.
Step 2. Push and hold the right-side latch in the direction as shown.
Step 3. Grasp the HBA by its edges and carefully remove it from the RAID adapter slot on the system
board.
Install a new HBA. See “Install the HBA” on page 67.
If you are instructed to return the old HBA, follow all packaging instructions and use any packaging materials
that are provided.
Install the HBA
Use this information to install the RAID adapter in the RAID adapter slot on the system board.

Ensure that you follow the installation order if you install more than one HBA:
• The RAID adapter slot on the system board
• The PCIe slot 4 on the system board if the serial port module is not installed
• A PCIe slot on the riser card
Before installing the RAID adapter:
1. Touch the static-protective package that contains the new HBA to any unpainted surface on the outside
of the server. Then, take the new HBA out of the package and place it on a static-protective surface.
2. If the HBA is installed with a bracket, remove the bracket.
To install the HBA in the RAID adapter slot on the system board, complete the following steps:
