Yourcomputerhasaspecialtypeofmemorythatmaintainsthedate,time,andsettingsforbuilt-infeatures,
suchasparallel-connectorassignments(conguration).Abatterykeepsthisinformationactivewhenyou
turnoffthecomputer.
Thebatterynormallyrequiresnochargingormaintenancethroughoutitslife;however,nobatterylasts
forever.Ifthebatteryfails,thedate,time,andcongurationinformation(includingpasswords)arelost.An
errormessageisdisplayedwhenyouturnonthecomputer.
Refertothe“Lithiumcoincellbatterynotice”intheSafety,Warranty,andSetupGuideforinformationabout
replacinganddisposingofthebattery.
Toreplacethebattery,dothefollowing:
1.Turnoffthecomputeranddisconnecttheacpoweradapterandallcablesfromthecomputer.
2.Removethecomputercover.See“Removingthecomputercover”onpage25.
3.Locatethebattery.See“Locatingpartsonthesystemboard”onpage8.
4.Removetheoldbattery.
