TheWasteElectricalandElectronicEquipment(WEEE)markappliesonlytocountrieswithintheEuropean
Union(EU)andNorway.AppliancesarelabeledinaccordancewithEuropeanDirective2002/96/EC
concerningwasteelectricalandelectronicequipment(WEEE).TheDirectivedeterminestheframeworkfor
thereturnandrecyclingofusedappliancesasapplicablethroughouttheEuropeanUnion.Thislabelis
appliedtovariousproductstoindicatethattheproductisnottobethrownaway,butratherreclaimedupon
endoflifeperthisDirective.
Usersofelectricalandelectronicequipment(EEE)withtheWEEEmarkingperAnnexIVoftheWEEE
DirectivemustnotdisposeofendoflifeEEEasunsortedmunicipalwaste,butusethecollectionframework
availabletothemforthereturn,recycle,recoveryofWEEEandminimizeanypotentialeffectsofEEEon
