TheThinkServerEasyStartupprogramsimpliestheprocessofconguringsupportedRAIDandinstalling
supportedWindowsandLinuxoperatingsystemsanddevicedriversonyourserver.Theuserguideforthe
programcanbeaccesseddirectlyfromtheprograminterface.
TheThinkServerEasyStartupprogramhasthefollowingfeaturesforRAIDconguration:

•AutomaticallydetectshardwareandlistsallsupportedRAIDcongurations
•Conguresoneormorediskarrayspercontrollerdependingonthenumberofdrivesattachedtothe

•CreatesaRAIDresponselethatcanbeusedtocongureRAIDcontrollersonsimilarlycongured

SomeRAIDmanagementsoftwarealsoisprovidedontheThinkServerEasyStartupDVDtohelpyoumanage
RAIDarraysandRAIDcontrollersinanoperatingsystemenvironment.Afteryouentertheoperatingsystem,
inserttheThinkServerEasyStartupDVDintotheopticaldrive.Theinstallationpackagesfortheprograms
arelocatedintheUtilitiesandOthersfolderintherootdirectoryoftheDVD.TheThinkServerEasyStartup
DVDisdesignedfordifferenttypesofserversandtheUtilitiesandOthersfoldermightcontainadditional
installationpackagesthatarenotrequiredtobeinstalledonyourserver.
ConguringtheadvancedSATAorSAShardwareRAID
BeforeconguringRAIDforyourserver,observethefollowingprecautions:
•Useharddiskdrivesthatareofthesametype(SATAorSAS)andhavethesamecapacitywithina
singleRAIDarray.
•Dependingontheoperatingsystem,thetotaldrivecapacityoftheprimaryRAIDmightbelimitedto2TB.
YourservercomeswithaRAIDcardtoprovideadvancedSATAorSAShardwareRAIDfunctions.See
“RAIDcard”onpage34.
TheRAIDcardprovidestheWebBIOSCongurationUtilityprogramtohelpyoucongureRAID
independentlyoftheoperatingsystem.YoualsocaninstalltheMegaRAIDStorageManagerprogramand
theMegaCLICongurationUtilityprogramtohelpyoumanagetheRAIDarrayandRAIDcontrollerinan
operatingsystemenvironment.
TheinstallationpackagesfortheMegaRAIDStorageManagerprogramandtheMegaCLIConguration
UtilityprogramareontheThinkServerEasyStartupDVD.Afteryouentertheoperatingsystem,insertthe
ThinkServerEasyStartupDVDintotheopticaldrive.Theinstallationpackagesfortheprogramsarelocatedin
theUtilitiesandOthersfolderintherootdirectoryoftheDVD.
Note:TheThinkServerEasyStartupDVDisdesignedfordifferenttypesofserversandtheUtilitiesandOthers
foldermightcontainadditionalinstallationpackagesthatarenotrequiredtobeinstalledonyourserver.
