Selecting/adjusting the insulation monitoring device, 24VDC network
The below only applies if the searchlight system is powered directly by the vessels DC
network.
Luminell's LED searchlight module is built for optimal light performance along with an
effective EMI-reducing circuit design.
Large capacitors between searchlight 0V and ground is an effective way to reduce emissions
but can also have a negative impact for some insulation monitors that use a measurement
method in the form of a pulsed voltage applied between supply 0V and ground.
It is very important to select and/or adjust the maximum capacitance for the insulation
monitoring device according to the correct total capacitance in the supply network or it will
give an incorrect reading or depending on setpoint, a false earth fault warning.
If any of the below searchlight models are supplied directly by the vessels 24VDC
network, the following capacitance should be considered, the figures apply to a single
searchlight:
