7 OPERATION/USE
LUMINELL SWEDEN AB 38
Wave compensation
It can be difficult to direct the light when the vessel is moving due to the sea.
Wave compensation will try to automatically stabilize the searchlight tilt movement within its
mechanical limitation. This feature can significantly facilitate the usage of the searchlight.
To activate, press the indicated button , the wave compensation icon shows in the
display and the vertical position field and the control wheel light indicator turns green.
With the compensation active you can continue to control the searchlight like you would
normally do. Deactivate by pressing the same button again.
Wave compensation cannot be combined with other automatic control modes.
How does it work?
Internally, wave compensation uses an algorithm that solves a geometrical problem in 3D.
The solution to this problem yields an automatically stabilizing light. To its help it uses
several sensors mounted inside the LED housing. These sensors are read and processed up
to 100 times per second.
