The M3S valve
M3S valve is Constant Mass Flow valve. The functioning of the valve is shown on Fig. 2.2.

When the diver does not inject, valve is closed as Fig. 2.2a) continuous injection of oxygen
is flown by the bypass. This injection is 0.7 L/min.
If the diver press the push button, there is a manual opening of the CMF that causes an
injection of a bigger flow of oxygen (see Fig. 2.2b)
The counterlungs
Counterlungs are asymmetrical : small one for exhale lung, and big one for the inhale lung.
The total volume of the loop is about 10L. The total loop includes the two counterlungs and
the breathing hose. The counterlungs are made in PU.

Scrubber description
The standard configuration of the TRITON is based on an axial soda lime canister that is
fixed horizontally inside the kevlar bag. The figure 2.4 shows the filtration process inside the
TRITON’s canister. The dirty gas (containing CO
2
) are shown in darkblue and the filtered
gas are shown in lightblue.
