What to do if the line switch (KM1) is open on Manitou Boom Lifts?
    • J
      Jasmine PenaJul 25, 2025
If the line switch (KM1) is open and the variable speed controller measures a voltage on terminal “A” 3 volts less than the battery’s rated voltage, examine the mechanical condition of the switch, the coil of the switch, and the control of the switch coil. Also, check the power and auxiliary fuses, and the wiring of the motors. Verify output B8 of the variable speed controller logic module, ensuring the signal is negative; if not, the line switch driver is out of service, and the variable speed controller should be changed.

What causes a sequence fault in Manitou Boom Lifts?
    • J
      James SmithJul 29, 2025
In case of a sequence fault on Manitou Boom Lifts, check that the inputs are in the “CLOSED” status when switched on in the Traction test (1.3), Upper box test (2.4), and Lower box test (2.6) menus. Also, check the specific input(s) which are in error.

How to troubleshoot an unusable variable speed controller on Manitou Boom Lifts?
    • D
      danielflynnAug 3, 2025
If the variable speed controller is unusable, start by checking the battery voltage and the electrolyte-specific gravity by elements. Inspect the wiring of the batteries, ensuring correct polarities and tight terminals. Verify the fuses, emergency shutdowns, and the battery cut-off. Make sure the battery charger isn't connected to the mains and check the battery connections (B-). Confirm the presence of the “+” battery on the “B1” input of the variable speed controller logic (+24 V) and the presence of the “+12 V” output of the B12 pin of the variable speed controller, ensuring “+12 V” internal availability. If these steps don't resolve the issue, the variable speed controller may need replacing.

What causes the line switch (KM1) to remain closed on Manitou Boom Lifts?
    • J
      Joshua LittleAug 11, 2025
If the line switch (KM1) is stuck or welded closed when switched on for Manitou Boom Lifts, verify if the line switch (KM1) is OPEN when the power supply is cut. If KM1 is OPEN, the variable speed controller is OK. If KM1 is CLOSED, the switch is stuck; check the switch and its power supply, and replace if necessary. Ensure there is a delay of 2 seconds between switching on and the closure of the line switch (KM1). If the delay equals 2 seconds, the variable speed controller is OK. If the delay is not 2 seconds, the variable speed controller is defective, and the driver of LINE switch is out of service. Also, check the power cables.

What to do if a parameter is outside the valid range in Manitou Boom Lifts?
    • J
      Jean Snyder PhDAug 15, 2025
If a parameter is outside the valid range on Manitou Boom Lifts, the fault can be removed by adjusting the value using the calibrator. Also, search for and fix the parameter where the following value is displayed “- - -”. Another approach is to switch the variable speed controller off and on, then check the parameters.

How to fix a checksum parameter value that is incorrect on Manitou Boom Lifts?
    • K
      Katherine HarrisAug 19, 2025
If the checksum parameter value is incorrect on Manitou Boom Lifts, you can attempt to fix it by adjusting the value using the calibrator. Check the value of all parameters. Force the update of the CRC by changing any parameter. Additionally, try switching the variable speed controller off and on, then check the parameters.

Why is the power test failing when switching on Manitou Boom Lifts?
    • M
      Michelle JensenNov 6, 2025
If there's a failure of the power test when switching on your Manitou Boom Lifts, and the problem originates outside the variable speed controller, check for negative voltage on the chassis and ensure the electric pump is isolated from the chassis. Also, verify that the electrical power harnesses are not short-circuited. If the problem originates inside the variable speed controller: 1. With the line switch (KM1) CLOSED, if the voltage at terminal “A” of the variable speed controller is less than 3 V, disconnect the travel motor cables (terminal A, S F1 & F2 on the variable speed controller), switch the variable speed controller off and on, and check if the problem persists. Disconnect connector ‘B’ of the variable speed controller logic module, connect a wire from plug “B1” of the vari...
