to
send
signals
to
another
item
of
equipment.

IN
terminal
is
used
to
receive
signals
from
another
item
of
equipment.

TAPE
IN/OUT
JACKS
Connect
the
play
(output)
jacks
and
record
(input)
jacks
of
tape
decks
to
these
jacks.
Up
to
three
tape
decks
can
be
connected.
NOTE:
When
a
surround
processor
or
graphic
equalizer
is
used,
it
must
be
connected
to
the
TAPE
jacks.

By
connecting
this
outlet
to
the
power
plug
of
a
VCR,
tuner,
or
TV
set
(the
audio
output
of
which
is
connected
to
this
unit)
and
by
leaving
its
power
switch
set
to
ON,
the
component's
power
will
be
switched
ON/OFF
in
conjunction
with
the
POWER
switch
of
this
unit.
The
power
consumption
of
the
connected
component
should
not
exceed
300
W.
POWER
CORD
Connect
to
a
household
power
outlet.

POWER
SWITCH
Press
to
turn
the
power
ON,
and
press
again
to
turn
it
OFF.
The
power
can
be
turned
ON
and
OFF
from
the
remote
control
unit,
but
when
the
power
is
turned
OFF
with
the
STANDBY
button
on
the
remote
control
unit,
the
unit
enters
the
standby
mode,
in
which
it
always
waits
for
the
power
ON
instruction
from
the
remote
control
unit.
This
switch
and
the
STANDBY
button
on
the
remote
control
unit
also
turn
ON/OFF
the
power
output
from
the
AC
OUTLET
(SWITCHED)
on
the
rear
panel.

POWER
INDICATOR
The
lamp
lights
when
the
power
is
ON.
Italso
lights
while
the
units
in
the
standby
mode,
that
is,
when
the
power
is
turned
OFF
by
pressing
the
STANDBY
button
on
the
remote
control
unit.

REMOTE
SENSOR
The
remote
sensor
receives
the
infrared
commands
from
the
remote
control
unit.
When
aninfrared
signal
is
received
from
the
remote
control
unit.
The
remote
control
unit
must
always
be
pointed
directly
at
the
remote
sensor.
INPUT
SELECTOR
Selects
the
program
source
to
be
recorded
or
played
from
the
PHONO,
CD,
TUNER,
AUX
1,
and
AUX
2.
The
indicator
of
the
selected
source
will
light
up.

VOLUME
CONTROL
Adjusts
the
volume
level.
Turn
the
knob
clockwise
to
increase
the
volume.
BALANCE
CONTROL
Turn
the
knob
to
correct
an
unbalanced
program
source
such
as
stereo
broadcast
or
to
vary
the
output
level
of
the
left
or
right
channel.
Note
that,
if
the
BALANCE
control
is
turned
fully
in
one
direction,
the
sound
will
not
be
heard
from
the
speaker
on
the
other
side.

MONO
SWITCH
When
this
switch
is
pressed
to
the
low
position,
the
left
and
right
channel
sounds
are
mixed
and
the
same
sound
is
produced
from
both
speakers.
Usually,
set
this
switch
to
the
high
position.
MONITOR
SWITCHES
Press
one
of
the
switches
to
monitor
or
play
one
of
the
tape
decks
connected
to
this
unit.
The
indicator
above
the
pressed
switch
lights
up.
To
dub
a
prerecorded
tape,
press
the
COPY
DCC
~
TAPE
switch.
SOURCE
DIRECT
SWITCH
When
this
switch
is
pressed,
the
audio
signal
is
supplied
directly
to
the
volume
control
circuitry
(the
signal
is
directed
through
the
minimum
required
path
to
improve
the
reproduction
of
high-quality
sources),
and
the
SOURCE
DIRECT
indicator
lights.
When
this
switch
is
ON,
the
settings
of
the
tone
controls,
tape
monitor
switches,
mono
switch,
and
balance
control
are
ignored.
NOTE:
The
tone
control
circuitry
is
disabled
when
the
SOURCE
DIRECT
switch
is
pressed.
Also,
while
this
switch
is
depressed,
recording,
playback,
or
dubbing
of
tapes
cannot
be
carried
out
even
when
a
tape
monitor
switch
is
pressed.
BASS
AND
TREBLE
TONE
CONTROLS
Adjusts
the
tone
by
controlling
the
levels
of
two
frequency
bands.
Turn
each
control
toward
(+)
to
enhance
the
corresponding
frequency
band,
or
toward
(—)
to
attenuate
it.
TREBLE:
Adjusts
the
high
frequency
level.
BASS:
Adjusts
the
low
frequency
level.

SPEAKERS
1/2
SWITCHES
These
switches
are
used
to
select
the
speaker
system(s)
connected
to
the
SPEAKER
SYSTEM
1/2
terminals
on
the
rear
panel.
If
both
the
1
and
2
switches
are
pressed
to
the
low
positions,
two
speaker
systems
can
be
used
at
the
same
time.
When
headphones
are
used
for
listening,
set
both
switches
1
and
2
to
OFF
(high
positions).

PHONES
JACK
Insert
the
standard
phone
plug
of
the
headphones
into
this
jack.
