What to do if some Martin MX-1 Spotlight fixtures respond erratically?
    • R
      rreyesAug 15, 2025
If some of your Martin Spotlight fixtures respond erratically or not at all after resetting, it may be due to a bad data link connection. Inspect the connections and cables, correcting any poor connections and replacing damaged cables. Ensure the data link is terminated with a 120? termination plug in the output jack of the last fixture on the link. Check the DIP-switch settings for incorrect addressing. One of the fixtures may be defective and disturbing data transmission. Bypass one fixture at a time by unplugging both connectors and connecting them directly together until normal operation is regained, then have the defective fixture serviced.

If all your Martin Spotlight fixtures respond erratically or not at all after resetting, first ensure that the controller is properly connected. If the problem persists, the XLR pin-out of the controller may not match the pin-out of the first fixture on the link. Install a phase-reversing cable between the controller and the first fixture.
