Overview

The MASTERFLEX L/S EASY-LOAD® II Pump Head is a peristaltic pump system designed for simple, easy-to-use fluid transfer. It is compatible with MASTERFLEX L/S drives or other compatible systems that feature a standard tang interface. The pump head accommodates various tubing sizes, allowing for a wide range of flow rates. Its unique over-center cam design and automatic tubing retention facilitate quick tubing changes and reduce maintenance time.

Function Description:

The pump head operates by compressing and releasing tubing as rollers rotate, creating a peristaltic action that propels fluid. This design ensures that the fluid only contacts the inside of the tubing, preventing contamination of the pump head and simplifying cleaning. The EASY-LOAD II design allows for quick and easy tubing installation and removal. For multi-channel applications, up to four pump heads can be mounted in tandem, depending on the torque capabilities of the drive.

Usage Features:

  • Tubing Compatibility: Designed for use with MASTERFLEX precision tubing to ensure optimum performance. Use of other tubing may void warranties.
  • Easy-Load Mechanism: The pump head features a loading lever that, when rotated to the left, opens the pump for easy tubing installation. Rotating the lever to the right closes the pump, securing the tubing.
  • Multi-channel Mounting: L/S EASY-LOAD II Pump Heads can be mounted in tandem (up to four) using special mounting hardware (sold separately). The tubing on the inside pump head(s) can be changed.
  • Occlusion Adjustment (on 77201-60, -62 models only): An occlusion adjustment knob allows users to fine-tune performance. Settings include "4" for nominal performance, "5" for increased pressure/vacuum with reduced tubing life, and "2" or "3" for longer tubing life with less pressure and vacuum. It is recommended to turn the knob to "1" after loading and adjust until the pump primes. Occlusion usually does not need to be readjusted when changing tubing.
  • Safety Precautions:
    • This product is not intended for patient-connected applications, including medical and dental use, and has not been submitted for FDA approval.
    • Always turn the drive off before removing or installing tubing to prevent fingers or loose clothing from being caught in the rollers.
    • Stop the drive when changing tubing or its position in the rotor mechanism (the rotor is partially exposed when the loading lever is open).
    • Do not over-tighten screws or wing nuts during multi-channel mounting.
    • Ensure tubes do not cross inside the pump head.

Maintenance Features:

  • No Lubrication Required: The L/S EASY-LOAD II Pump Head does not require lubrication.
  • Cleaning: The pump head can be cleaned with a mild detergent solution. It should not be immersed, and excessive fluid should not be used.
  • Rotor Replacement: The rotor assembly is replaceable. To disassemble the pump head for cleaning or rotor replacement:
    1. Remove the pump head from the drive.
    2. Remove the rear cover of the pump head.
    3. Remove the two screws securing the rotor.
    4. Remove the old rotor assembly.
    5. Install the new rotor assembly and secure it with two screws.
    6. Reinstall the rear cover.
  • Warranty: The manufacturer warrants the product to be free from significant deviations from published specifications for two (2) years from the date of purchase. Repairs due to misuse or abuse will be invoiced.
  • Product Return: For returns, contact the seller or manufacturer for authorization and shipping instructions. Pack the product carefully and insure it against possible damage or loss.
  • Technical Assistance: Contact the manufacturer or authorized seller for any questions regarding product use.
