influences.
These
factors
can
be
considered
as environrnent
influences.
The
bass
and treble controls
are
designed
to
provide a degree of
cornpensation
for the effects
of
environrnent.
Start
Iisten-
ing to
your
system
with
each control
at zero.
Ifyou
wish to
reduce
treble
in relation
to
bass,
rotate
the
"TREBLE"
control counterclockwise
until the tone
balance sounds
correct
to
you
at
this
particular
tirne.
Do not be surprised if
you find your preference
changing
from time to
tirne.
These controls
will rnodify
tone
balance without introducing any undesirable effects
of
therns elve s.
Tone
balance rnay be accented
in
the treble
range by rotating the
I'TREBLEil
control clock-
wise.
Sirnilarly
tone balance
rnay be
modified up
or down by use of the bass
control.
9.
The
record
cornpensation
controls
are used to correct
for the necessary
program
equalization
which the recording
process
introduces.
Recording
requires
a change
in the dis-
tribution
of intensity with frequency and
practically rneans that without
compensation
a
rnagnet-
ic
cartridge
would sound
greatly deficient in the
bass range
and
overly bright or shrill in the
treble
range.
For
several years
record
cornpanies
used rnany
different recording
characteristics
in an
effort to
give rnaxirnurn entertainrnent
value to listening to their
records.
The
recornrnended
settings
for Iistening to these
records are
given
