  If your McQuay Air Conditioner isn't cooling enough, it might be due to the equipment standing too long without being run, which can cause refrigerant to be absorbed in the oil. Allow about 5 minutes of continuous running to establish working pressures. Also, check for insufficient airflow through the condenser due to a dirty condenser, obstructed outdoor louver, condenser fan issues (not running, not up to speed, or slipping). Clean the condenser, remove obstructions, check the fan's voltage and adjust/tighten the fan position.

  If your McQuay Air Conditioner provides insufficient or no heat, first check the power supply, including fuses and circuit breakers. A blown fuse indicates circuit overloading, a short circuit, or a grounded condition. Also, check for faulty control pad or PC boards, and loose connections. Ensure the temperature setting is high enough. If using a heat pump, its heating capacity may drop with outdoor temperature; switch to electric heat. Faulty electric heaters or compressors, and low air flow can also cause this issue, requiring repair or replacement.

  If the indoor fan of your McQuay Air Conditioner runs on cool but the compressor doesn't start, here's what to check: * Ensure the temperature setting isn't too high; lower it if it is. * Verify the voltage is within 5% of the data plate rating. * Inspect for loose wire connections to the control pad or control box PC board and tighten them. * A defective compressor overload, faulty control pad or control box PC boards, defective wiring to compressor terminals, malfunctioning starting capacitor, or a defective compressor could also be the issue, requiring replacement. * Also, there may be a built-in time delay; wait up to 4 minutes.
