Why is my McQuay Type K Incremental Packaged Terminal Air Conditioner providing too much cooling?
    • J
      Jamie YoungAug 20, 2025
If your McQuay Air Conditioner is providing too much cooling, the thermostat might be set too low; adjust it accordingly. Alternatively, the thermostat could be defective and require replacement.

Why is my McQuay Type K Incremental Packaged Terminal Air Conditioner “sweating”?
    • J
      Jason MillerAug 23, 2025
If your McQuay Air Conditioner is experiencing “sweating,” it could be due to a few reasons. The condensate drain from the evaporator to the condenser might be plugged; remove any obstructions to water flow. Damaged insulating seals on the equipment could also be a factor; adjust or replace them. Additionally, if the evaporator blower motor isn't up to speed, check for correct voltage and oil the motor if necessary. Finally, an incorrectly positioned evaporator blower can cause this issue; adjust it accordingly.

What to do if McQuay Type K Incremental Packaged Terminal compressor does not start but blowers work on cool?
    • M
      melody31Aug 26, 2025
If your McQuay Air Conditioner's blowers operate on Cool, but the compressor doesn't start, there could be several reasons. First, check if the thermostat is set too high; if so, adjust it to a cooler setting. Ensure the heat valve is closed, preventing heat from being on. Low voltage could also be the issue, so check the power supply. Other potential causes include a faulty push-button switch (replace it), loose or defective connections at the switch or compressor terminals (tighten or replace them), defective wiring to the thermostat (replace it), a malfunctioning starting capacitor (replace it), or a defective compressor motor. If the compressor motor is defective, *ship the cooling chassis prepaid to the nearest McQuay authorized warranty station.

Why does my McQuay Type K Incremental Packaged Terminal Air Conditioner compressor start then stop quickly?
    • A
      Alyssa BarronAug 28, 2025
If the blowers of your McQuay Air Conditioner run on Cool, and the compressor starts but stops after a short time, it may be due to the overload device activating because of an overloaded compressor motor. To resolve this, check the voltage supply. Clean the condenser inside and out and check for recirculation of condenser air at the outside face of the condenser. If air “splitters” are missing, install them. Also, ensure the condenser blower/fan is operating correctly. Finally, check the compressor for a short circuit. If the compressor is defective, *ship the cooling chassis to the nearest McQuay authorized warranty station.

What to do if McQuay Air Conditioner compressor runs but the blowers don't?
    • O
      othompsonAug 31, 2025
If your McQuay Air Conditioner compressor starts and runs on Cool, but the blowers don't operate, the issue could stem from several causes. Start by checking the push-button switch; if faulty, replace it. The blower motor might be open-circuited, requiring replacement. Also, inspect if the blower is rubbing against its housing and adjust the blower motor or blower wheel position accordingly. If the bearings on the blower motor are seized, lubricate the motor with SAE #10 oil, which may necessitate removing the blower assembly. Lastly, ensure there are no loose connections at the push-button switch; if found, tighten them.

Why does my McQuay Type K Incremental Packaged Terminal compressor stop occasionally?
    • C
      corey32Sep 2, 2025
If the blowers of your McQuay Air Conditioner run on Cool and the compressor starts and runs, but occasionally stops due to the overload device, it could be due to several reasons. Low voltage from overloaded circuits within the building or the local power system can cause this, so consider running a separate electric line or consulting the local power company. High voltage fluctuations in the local power system, particularly during low load periods, can also be a factor; consult the local power company. A partial short circuit in the compressor motor might also be the cause. If a short circuit is confirmed, *ship the cooling chassis prepaid to the nearest McQuay authorized warranty station.

How to fix McQuay Type K Incremental Packaged Terminal blowers that won't operate on Cool?
    • M
      Mary AguilarSep 4, 2025
If your McQuay Air Conditioner's blowers won't operate on Cool, it could be due to several reasons. First, check for power; ensure the supply line fuses and circuit breakers are in working order and that the power is on. Blown fuses indicate circuit overloading, a short circuit, or a grounded condition. Check the voltage supply to the equipment, ensuring it's within 10% of the data plate voltage under load. Another cause could be a faulty push-button switch, which would need replacement, or loose connections at the push-button switch, which should be tightened.

Why does McQuay Air Conditioner fan motor start and stop on Cool?
    • E
      elizabeth55Sep 7, 2025
If your McQuay Air Conditioner compressor starts and runs on Cool, but the fan motor starts and then stops, it could be due to the internal overload device activating because of a short circuit in the blower motor. Adjust the blower/fan wheel on the shaft or the blower motor mounting, and lubricate with SAE #10 oil. Alternatively, windings rubbing in the blower motor or a lack of lubrication in the blower motor bearings could be the problem. Adjust the blower wheel or motor, or replace the wheel.

    • B
      balljoySep 12, 2025
If the blowers of your McQuay Air Conditioner won't operate on Heat, there could be several reasons. First, check for power; ensure it's correctly supplied. If the equipment has a heat fan lockout, the heat might be off; open the heat valve or turn on the heating system. A faulty push-button switch could also be the cause; replace it if necessary. Check for loose connections at the push-button switch and tighten them. Lastly, the thermostat might be set too low; adjust it to a warmer setting.
