5 Calibration
5.1 Foreword
Calibration of the device is essential to ensure a correct measurement. Additionally,
calibration allows also the operator to detect a possible problem with the module or the
module’s environment.
After a calibration, it is possible to perform a check (which is recommended by ATS-ERS
guidelines) in order to verify the quality of the calibration and the accuracy of the
measurement.
The table below summarises the calibrations which have to be performed on FeNO+ module.
Calibration Minimum
frequency
Page Short description
Volume 1 x day 19 Only if spirometry option is available
Calibration of the volume/flow measurement (Lilly
pneumotachograph)
NO gas 1 x
6 months
27 Only performed by a qualified technician approved
by Medisoft SA or its representative
Calibration of the electrochemical NO sensor
The module should be turned on at least 20 minutes before performing the
calibration.
This allows the stabilization of the analyser and the heated pneumotachograph
temperature.
5.2 Preparing the equipment
Turn on the module at least 20 minutes before performing the calibration
Verify the connections of the pneumotachograph and the tubing to the module
Prepare the 3 liters calibration syringe
