Overview

The Meliconi TLC04 is a remote control specifically designed for PHILIPS digital television sets. It functions by reproducing infrared signals that correspond to the original remote control's commands. However, it does not support functions that operate in radio frequency, such as voice commands and pointers. A key feature of this remote control is its permanent memory, which ensures that settings are retained even when batteries are removed.

Function Description:

The Meliconi TLC04 is typically ready for use immediately after inserting batteries, as it comes pre-set with a specific code from the factory. If initial setup doesn't work or some functions are not performing as expected, users can activate the remote control through several methods:

  • Smartphone/Tablet/Web: Users can scan a QR code or visit www.cme.it to find the specific code for their device. Once identified, this code can be directly entered into the remote control.
  • Manual Search: This method involves pointing the Meliconi remote control towards the TV while it is ON (not in stand-by). The user presses and holds a specific button until the remote's LED lights up. Then, while pointing the remote at the TV, the ON/OFF button is pressed and held until the TV switches off. Releasing the button immediately after the TV turns off, followed by three flashes from the remote, indicates successful programming. If the remote doesn't control the TV correctly, the procedure should be repeated. If no results are obtained after two attempts, users are advised to use the Smartphone/Tablet/Web method or contact assistance.
  • Entering the Code Directly: If the specific code for the TV is already known, the user presses and holds a designated button until the LED lights up, then immediately enters the code. Three final flashes confirm successful programming. If the remote does not flash three times, the setting was unsuccessful, and the procedure should be repeated. If it remains unsuccessful, the code might not be included in the remote control, and assistance should be contacted.

Usage Features:

  • Button Functions: The functions of the buttons on the Meliconi remote control are only available if the original device is equipped with them. For functions not directly present on the Meliconi remote control keypad, users can visit www.cme.it and use an online tool to match original remote control buttons with the Meliconi remote. If a desired function is matched with an orange-colored number, the user can program it by pressing and holding a specific button on the Meliconi remote, entering the identified number, and then pressing and holding the desired Meliconi button to store the function.
  • Delete Function by Single Button: To delete a function assigned to a single button, the user presses and holds a specific button, then, without releasing it, enters the code 1600. Within 30 seconds, the user presses and holds the button from which they want to delete the function. Three flashes indicate the end of the operation. To recall the original function, the activation code needs to be set again.
  • Display Code in Use: To retrieve the currently active code, the user presses and holds a specific button, then enters the code 0010. After a pause, the LED will produce four sets of flashes, spaced out, with each set corresponding to a digit of the code (ten flashes for digit zero). This code should be noted for future reference.
  • Reset the Remote Control: To completely reset the remote control to its initial conditions, the user presses and holds a specific button until the LED lights up, then enters the code 0100. Three final flashes confirm the successful reset. All user settings will be lost during this process.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Batteries: The remote control requires 2 new 1.5V AAA/LR03 alkaline batteries (not included). Rechargeable batteries should NOT be used.
  • Battery Test: To check battery status, press and hold the '5' button. If the LED remains on continuously until the button is released, the batteries are good. If the light is off or blinks, the batteries are low and need replacement.
  • Memory: The remote control features permanent memory, ensuring settings are retained even without batteries.
  • Infrared Signal Check: To verify if the remote control is sending infrared signals, users can use a camera (e.g., a mobile phone camera). Aim the infrared LED (not the red LED above) at the camera and press and hold the '5' button. If the camera shows short white/light blue flashes, the remote control is working and emitting infrared.

Maintenance Features:

  • Battery Handling: Do not leave exhausted batteries inserted, as they may leak and damage the remote control. Batteries should not be disassembled, thrown into fire, or released into the environment. They must be disposed of according to current regulations, typically at designated collection points for spent batteries and accumulators.
  • Troubleshooting:
    • New Remote Not Working: Check if the correct code is set and repeat the setup procedures if necessary. Consult www.cme.it or contact assistance.
    • Remote Stops Working: Disconnect the TV from power for a few minutes, then switch it back on. Remove batteries from the remote, press the ON/OFF button twice, and insert new batteries. Ensure the remote is pointed directly at the device without obstacles. Try resetting the remote and performing a new activation.
    • Some Functions Unavailable: This often indicates an incorrect code. Find and set a more suitable code using the activation procedures. For functions not directly on the keypad, refer to the "BUTTONS AND FUNCTIONS" chapter.

Warranty:

The product comes with a 2-year warranty. Users should keep their sales receipt as proof of purchase. The warranty is voided if the product is tampered with or used improperly.

Environmental Information:

The symbol of a crossed-out wheelie bin on the device indicates that it must be collected separately from other waste at the end of its useful life. It should be taken to appropriate centers for differentiated collection of electrical and electronic waste or returned to the retailer when purchasing a new equivalent device. This ensures proper recycling and prevents negative environmental and health impacts.
